Smashed Window

Specsavers are franchises. So the person your wife knows I would think maybe owns a franchise in NI, and NOT the company.

Going back on topic, the glass cover on insurance policy usually covers all glass and not just windscreens. Has the policy been checked to see if this is the case or not? given the cost for a proper repair job, it certainly would be worthwhile.
Well here's the long story short. My insurance covers full cost of windscreen but other body glass is max £650. My excess is £1000 and although I have another policy to cover this excess, it specifically excludes any glass repairs. So, zilch cover for this problem. The glass was found broken only an hour after I had left the m/home by an employee of the secure site where it is stored. He had been grass strimming around the motorhomes in my area and when I looked at the broken window there were grass clippings stuck to the bodywork around the window. Fairly conclusive evidence you would think. There are CCTV cameras all around the site but none are close enough to verify it was him, and he denies responsibility although to be fair to him he was wearing ear protectors and the break in the window was above his line of sight while he was working. Also there is some video evidence that a van on the site passed by my m/home at speed at roughly the same time and its tyres could have picked up a stone. Neverthless, my money is on the grass strimming. There are no warning signs around that vehicles are left on site at the owner's risk and I have not seen or signed a contract that invokes a similar warning. The owner of the site is a pleasant man and I have found him to be accommodating and flexible in my past dealings with him. He neither denies or confirms that he is responsible, but to be fair he has said on a couple of occasions that 'we', meaning he and I, must get the window repaired as soon as possible, which implies some responsibility on his part. So, maybe he will cough up for some or all of the cost, or, maybe not, which is why I am looking at the cheapest and most effective way of repairing the window just in case I have to meet the full cost.

that is a pain.
your 'evidence' reminds me of an event at my house when I lived in Devon. Paid a tree feller (just the one, Trev) to grind a stump away in the driveway and also in the back garden. He sent a young chap round to do the work.
After being a while working away, knocked on door and looking sheepish said "got a bit of a problem" and show me where he had smashed the glass in one of the french windows!
Then he said "could you come round the front" and then showed me where he had smashed the rear window of my car with a stone! Ok, once was unfortunate but twice was downright careless.
Spoke to contractor and he said it will get sorted out, but in the meantime could I settle the bill for the stump work!!
Told him that will wait until the repairs are sorted out :)
IIRC, they paid the excess charge for the car screen and I didn't bother asking him for the French Window repair as was replacing the doors very soon anyway, so he got off lightly!

Also reminds me before that of a tale my brother told me about leaving his car for servicing or repair at a local main dealer and had stone dings, and maybe even a broken window, when he picked it up. Him and Dealer at car arguing about it and Dealer stating it was nothing to do with him as impossible to happen there. As he said that, one of his mechanics drove a car along pathway by them flinging up stones everywhere :D His claim and excuse vanished into thin air....

A decent size strimmer will cause a lot of damage for sure, full PPE when I'm using mine and the green Chlorophyll is a right PITA to remove from white bodywork, hopefully Site glass will sort it reasonably.
