Skylight insulation problem

Sue the catch you described to me is a caravan buckle/turn catch but I think from what I have Seen your in van molly2 idea will work with the slide out boards so you can air it out in the summer months and slide it back in place in the cold months.
Similar to my suggestion lol. XXX

fit the strip using the light screw they can be turned out to remove the board or whatever she using

if you can't find suitable extrusion use a square plastic drain pipe cut corner to corner to make 2 L shape length.

worth a try

Love bubble wrap silver. Light weight and folds easy.

1, dubble bubble wrap silver over the roof outside and thats where condonsation will form? Like a hat shape over outside of van?

2, bubble wrap silver, sika fix or drill magnet numbers or magnet stripps like on L plates! to plastic skylight frame.
They should hold a 3x5 sheet up there if you use enough magnets and tin plates inside

We use it as a black out screen on sky light. 40x40

Have you thought about Kingspan, comes in different thickness and easy to cut,
I used it on a 6ft koi pond window in the winter, its ideal for this sort of thing.

What about some polycarban sheet as used for concervatory roof ,comes in 2 sizes 16_ 32 mm .Let's light in could be left up all year.could be bonded or hinged . Available in off cuts from you friendly conservatory manufacturer .

Stick to stick Velcro is handy!

On my 5th wheel I have used silver thermal material with sticky Velcro on it ... I have stuck a square of Velcro all around the skylight and simply push the silver Material on when it's cold or when I leave it in winter. I also have an additional cushion that I put in behind the silver thermal sheet that also help to insulate it... it has lasted four years so far - I find that it helps if you tease the material off to avoid simply pulling all the Velcro off as you remove the silver covers... this may be of help.

Bit like Post #10. If the Velcro is stuck to the background surface with contact adhesive then it (the contact adhesive) can be fairly easily removed, with turnbuckles you 're left with unsightly screwholes if you have a change of plan, in the future:cry:

Try

Wickes Seasonal Secondary Glazing Film 6m2 | Wickes.co.uk

Nothing stopping you putting a layer of bubble rap under it but will look better without. The double sided sticky tap will stick to the head on your beer but I would still give the surface a wipe with spirit before you apply. On the sealing, I doubt that anyone will notice it is there. At £7 a go, you can replace and clean behind as often as you like.

Try this, v cheap

Clean skylight and degrease with some form of alchohol

Stick on some self adhesive velcro discs............google!

As others have said, cut 25mm thick polystyrene sheet to a reasonable fit

glue the other halves of the velcro discs to the polystyrene

Cheap as chips, even if you had to replace the polystyrene every year:idea:
