I have sky in the house, paid for, and when I take the card out while watching STV it says please insert your card, it looks like sky have blocked STV, I`ve been using a spare sky box in the van without a sky card cos its too much hassle getting the cards swopped every time we go away, is it just me or is everyone had it blocked, other half is not pleased LOL.

Have you not got one of them under the counter del boy ones which dont require a card ,every one here has them wink wink.

Not one of they Trev but I see they,ve had them removed from ebay now. I,m still able to download a key from internet to watch but need a new on every few days now

We fell out with Sky a few years ago when they stopped allowing you to swap the card to a second box - we had a Sky branded 12 volt box in the van that was a great little piece of kit. Sky said it broke their contract if we used the card anywhere apart from the address it was registered to (and basically accused us of using it fraudulently, even though we were only watching programmes that we were paying them good money for). We even suggested we could use it in the van on our drive while we were having major renovations done to the house but they weren't interested. So we cancelled our contract and watch freesat and DVDs now.

I swap my sky card into my sky box fitted in my motorhome every trip out. Never been contacted by Sky, perhaps things have changed since you had your fallout with them.

I'm really puzzled... why do you need to take the card out if you're watching STV?

Glasses time, your not wearing your reading glasses, while watching STV it says please insert your card

Possibly - it was a couple of years ago.

Sky said that they would sell me a Freesat card for £25.00 (1 Off payment and nothing more to pay them). Freesat sounds like a good option for the MoHo as I have always managed to get a signal with my dish, but there is no diff between Freesat & Freeview so I`d be better off with Freeview for the house because antennas are less temperamental than dishes. just need to buy 2 new Humax boxes now, the only drawback I can see is only being able to record one programme at a time while watching another.

weve got 2 sky boxes in different properties and only one card... swopped locations at easter with no problem. ive not tried using either box without a card .

if the cards are tied to one box i guess wed move boxes rather than just the card.

but bear in mind there are other freesat boxes on the market that dont need cards. were just using sky boxes cos were used to the sky format/interface personally id ditch the sky subscription and just watch freesat but the other half would loose a couple of favourite channels
