should I stay or should I go?

I've been on the road now for 18 days and was supposed to go home last night but having checked my diary the only important things I've got on are my first college class of the year on Tues and a meeting on Fri afternoon. It's not essential that I go to the meeting but it could be advantageous.

I have quite a lot of work to catch up on but so long as I can get a signal, I can do it online + have got paperwork etc with me.

So should I stay away or should I go home?

I was going to do a poll and ask you all to vote but am using android app to post this and I don't think I can. So if anyone would like to set up a poll on my behalf please do so... I'm feeling a bit guilty about enjoying myself too much on the road and can't decide what to do...

:cool1::drive:Stay awhile longer then go :juggle::cool1::drive:

I done you a poll jess and i think you should stay on the road lass

Always a hard choice.

I'd stay out. As someone else said, Winter will be here soon. I look at the cost of going home and coming out again and at the moment the sun is shining in Dorset and I'm 200 miles from home, so we're staying out until the beginning of next week at least, when I'll have to head back as my daughter tells me the grapes are ready to harvest and I want to pick them and make wine for Christmas before they go to far. I find that I get into a routine, which is disrupted by having to go home occasionally and prefer to stay in the van whilst the weather is good, as I've got all Winter to do the jobs round the house.

Well I spent Sunday night at Tebay. And it was bloody freezing!! So I'd stay away a while longer!

If you're managing and coping well being away (and enjoying it), I wouldn't be in a hurry home Jess unless you think you need to attend that meeting.

Ah, you're showing signs of being truly bitten by the travel bug!!!

The cost of running your MH against the cost of running the house, yes I know it's not that cold yet, and you're hardened to it where you live, but another week, why not.

It is as others have said, a long winter, one where perhaps you'll have to have some kind of order if you are to attend college, but then you can attend and just go a short distance away to do the work and stay away even longer.

I think the weather's usually OK up to Christmas (at least!)

When I backpacked in India, I ended up living in cheaper and cheaper accommodation to put off the point where I had to go home for another week, then another etc.

Once smitten by the bug, it rarely leaves you!!!

Thanks everyone for saying what I wanted to hear ~ I feel like you've given me permission to play out for a bit longer :)

I'm loving being on the road as is the dog and the cat has taken to it really well too. She sleeps most of the day either in her carrier on the passenger seat whilst on the move or tucked away in amongst various stuff above the cab. First thing in the morning and at night when we are settled down she goes out for a couple of hours but dashes back to the van if she hears voices or a vehicle. She has a litter tray in the footwell but doesn't use it much, she seems able to wait 12 hours or so between going. She has even followed me and the dog for an evening walk on the beach a couple of times. I have a harness and lead for her but haven't needed it. At night I put a thin bracelet glow stick on her so I can see where she is and I see her hiding in scrub and darting around or following the dog around outside :)

I'm up on the north east coast and have had really good weather, only a few showery days although its definitely getting more autumnal and the nights are getting nippy. But it's no worse than being home in a draughty part renovated Victorian terrace house.

I've found like Bushtrekker that I've got a routine now and I love it that the most important things to worry about are keeping the milk cool and finding water and a proper loo once a day :)

I've no idea what's going on in the world - I've only watched the news on TV once and apart from withdrawal symptoms at first about not having good mobile reception I have got used to it now although I've got a good signal here for a change and it's nice to dip back into the real world for a short while.

It's become quite a mission to find cemeteries for water, and to look out for shower opportunities, apart from the 2nights I spent on a campsite with a friend in the first week, I've only had 1 shower on Saturday when I paid for a swim at berwick leisure centre so that I could use the shower.

Thanks to Kimbo for setting up the poll although I can't see it or the results on my phone. I think I needed permission to stay away a bit longer!

Ste - where in Tebay did you stay? There's a nice little Victorian terrace with 'original features' available for rent /sale not far from there if anyone's interested ;-)

The sun is shining so I mustn't waste the day, hope you're all enjoying your various MHs as much as me xxx

PS I can't do likes on my mobile but you would have all had likes if I could :D

Have yourself a glass of wine (or three) then decide .........................................................................................yep Stay:cheers:

You take care you will end up like me a run away some day i will come home but only for a day :lol-053::lol-053: have fun while the sun is out

To be honest I'm jealous as hell.

I found after living in my van full time, I didn't want to go back in the house! That was 2 1/2 years ago, and so far, I haven't been back, only to feed the cats, and now hardly at all.

13 to 2 so far in fave of staying on the road BTW Jess :)

Are you able to take your van & park up near where your meeting or college is thus being able to carry on playing.

Wooler Community Centre/library/tourist info offers free wifi and charging, and a comfy seat and nice clean loos with hot water if you have your own laptop :pc: so I'm online at the moment, so you've all got likes for your comments :D

Am going to stay away until at least thurs evening and will then decide what to do depending on weather, £££, etc.

Jess stay for as long as you can ..........I would give anything to be in your position instead looking at grey walls and a computer screen in a dim office. Roll on the weekend for our cheeky get way. Have fun, relax and make the most of this delayed summer.

HI, stayed at the LR Tebay 2 (S) (A685) 'viewpoint'. I'd just done the the antique fair at Rheged, and was heading towards Kendal for some new stock.

Day 22 and still going strong :drive: :fun:

I'm loving being on the road and the freedom it gives, the ability to wake up in the morning and to decide where to go and what to do dependent on the weather or a whim. Or just to stay put if it's a good spot. Both the dog and the cat seem very happy and content with the lifestyle too.

Yesterday was the first full wet day (and night) of the entire trip so I've been very lucky with the weather and perhaps I wouldn't be still on the road if the weather hadn't been so good but to be honest I didn't mind a day in the van, doing some cleaning up and tidying and writing my travel journal and reading "How to live off-grid". There's very definitely been a difference in the weather whilst I've been away, it was still summer when I left and I spent the best part of the first week in bikini top and shorts and sandals on the beach, getting a good sun tan in the process, but this morning when I woke up, for the first time my breath "smoked" in the air, and for the past couple of nights, I've had a blanket on top of the duvet in bed and have been wearing thermals as pj's. But as yet, it's no worse than being in my draughty old house.

I'm in Rothbury at the moment, and can recommend Tomlinson's Cafe and Bunkhouse where I'm using their free wifi, after just having had a full breakfast at teatime. I'm off to visit Cragside tomorrow and wonder at the marvels of hydro electricity.

I was going to try to see if I could last for the whole month but I have a full day meeting next wed which I simply can't get out of and although I've been trying to keep up with work, I am behind and do really need to get home to catch up.

But it's been a bl00dy marvellous experience which I wouldn't have missed for the world and which has done my confidence in my own abilities the world of good. I suddenly realised yesterday that for 3 weeks I virtually haven't had a negative emotion and have really been happy.

Cafe's closing now, gotta go.
