Scotland or Cornwall

hehe last summer, so not that old!

they have some strange mini fish and chips here, not a whole fillet, but 2/3 pieces battered together, so they dont charge a full £3.50 for it

Scotland or Cornwall? It's a tough call.
We did both last year. Cornwall is warmer but more crowded. Been a regular visitor since I used to go with my parents almost 60 years ago.
More room in Scotland. Stunning scenery. Shame about the bugs.
Can't really decide so I guess we'll just have to continue visiting both.
Northumberland also becoming a favourite.

how does cost differ in Scotland to Cornwall? Petrol, Services, even a loaf of bread etc.

hey, im female, im practical and usually control, the money! :D

Parking is usually free in most places in Scotland, large towns like Fort William £1.20 for ALL day, right on the harbour, where you can fish for free, Ants caught 5 mackrel in 10 mins, 2 got grilled and 3 got made into a pate mmmm yummy (i'll give you recipie if you wannit) Cornwall cant boast that, we had Fish n Chips only once at a Sammy's in Caol, highly reccommended £5.20 each, would have fed 3 peeps, i think Whitby is the best plaice (obvious spelling mistake before you lynch me) for FnC tho, but that all gets down to preference, beef dripping or oil, hey, ther's another debate, lol,

keep em coming guys n gals,

Jen

Our first and last trip to Scotland was a follow-the-wind-tour at the end of August. August isn't a reliable month for wind in the UK whatever Scotland's reputation for changeable weather.

We ended-up on the north and east coasts even though we, like everyone else, wanted the west-coast.

No midges where we stayed at a place called Dornoch and fabulous beaches, we did stay at a camp-site but right on the perimeter alongside the dunes.

Awesome, look. We're camped just the other side of these dunes, it's about 100 metres walk to the sea.

Sorry but shouldn't it be England you're comparing to Scotland, rather than just the little bit down in the corner? and really you need to include Wales as well to show that the Welsh are not being descriminated against.:p:p

Thanks for the pull, but, I wanted to compare Scotland with Cornwall, NOT England OK????

start your own thread with that title if that's the information you want, god it can get so petty on here

I would love to go-back to the Cornwall of my childhood, at least in Scotland you can find somewhere to pull-in and have lunch without a queue forming behind you.

I'll go back to Scotland a number of times before I go to Cornwall, from where I live the journey to Scotland takes me along the west-coast of Wales before I need to head inland for a motorway which at least keeps moving and quickly gets me to the Lake-Districts then beyond into the low-lands of Scotland.

From here to Cornwall I have the M4 which is reasonable, then the M4/M5 junction and the M5 south, Horrible. Even worse to come.

Unfortunately since we had our van, it's a 6 metre 'A' class by Burstner, we've had it two and half years but both winters and spring/early summer in both years i've been coping with hip resurfacing procedures so there's been a lot of down-time. Together with the surgery is the hard-work getting-back to kitesurfing-fitness and walking.

Go to Scotland, respect the fact that some Scots are still not coping-well with Scotlands popularity to motorhome-ers and their habit of bringing most all their needs with them.

why not travel round the coast of south wales and then take the coast road to cornwall. seems every body is in a rush. play our game .no motor ways no dual carriage ways if you can take another route.did it last year lovely route dont need a map just keep the sea on the right.

last winter we caught the ferry to santander drove across to barcelona then followed the coast down through spain then up portugal and round to santander. trying not to use m,way or main rds. took 5 months we only go slow . was a great trip. bit cold and wet .but we went up every inlet in galecia and had loads fun. lots places every where to parkup. try it its good fun. if you find it too narrow then reverse out. we had a few of those in portugal .try reversing mine out makes you sweat.

I get the point guys, yes i'm retired but yes i'm always working to a schedule based on my partner still works and-so provides income and I in return provide support to her.

Being retired in North Pembrokeshire is fabulous but keeping this place nice takes cash and work so I don't really have the time to take the back-roads.

Just had 4 cubic metres of oak slab delivered that needs a chainsaw, axe and a strong back together with the grass and banks growing like-crazy in this warm-wet weather.

Just as well we didn't have chickens Eh.

you have to get organised .get rid of anything that takes time away .i only have the dog. .yes its hard to keep up with the hedges and grass etc .even the house needs a bit of plastering. but have to keep winter for use as summer. may to november is winter to me now. the worse is when you get back the damp down here is horrible get every where but then clean up and rest. only 3 and a half months to summer.ha ha.
had a double glazing rep here yesturday .he says in winter i could save 80 percent of the heat loss through the windows. i said i shant save anything ,i dont have heat loss in the winter. dont have heating on. he couldnt understand what i meant. never mind it was good fun .see you in spain one day. cheers alan.
