Hi has anyone got a more accurate Schengen calculator to do our sums for me! I stayed in EU 29/5-14/6 in 2024 . ( Subsequently forgot about that trip!)
Now staying 23/1-22/4 which is exactly 90 days. Realised last night there could be an issue, But when I use calculators one says we will overstay by 2 days and the other says we are ok :rolleyes:
Can change dates if necessary but don't want to....blooming br***t!

This day calculator counts the number of days between two dates. It does not include the last day, so, there is 1 day between today and tomorrow, not 2.

But that is between dates...the Schengen counts the days you are in the area. Using that it is 223(+2) days from when we left to when we arrived again so that is more than the 180 days. But the calculators for Schengen say different!

That's what I think...it's just these blooming calculators say different when I put in all the dates! Weird. Just don't want to get done for overstaying.,

The EU Schengen Calculator ( see TJBi post) is a cut down version of the Border Guard IT System, so can be relied upon. It's not intuitive, but, if you begin by entering the earlier stays and then enter your planned stay, it will show both the 180 and 90 days periods, and show how many days you will have after the planned trip. There is a clever touch, in essence a 'sweet spot' that seems to sit around 45-55 days. If your new trip would take you over the 90 days, the expiry/decay of Day 1 enables Day 91 to be added because the 'extra days' will never exceed 90 as the first days fall away. The Calculator will work out how far ahead this day renewal process can take you.

I always use ninety180.com . Very easy to use and shows previous trips and future ones. Fill in your dates and if the squares are blue you're good to go, if red you either can't go then or must be back then. Gave me a nice surprise recently when I forgot about 28 days in Feb. and 30 in April. The cold has slowed my brain.
 
You only need to do 90 back in uk ! We do 88 eu 90 uk ad then 88 eu then 90 uk , we leave 2 days in eu to play with for funerals punctures breakdowns,
The rules are :
You are allowed to travel in Europe for 90 days in every 180 so if you do 90 days in uk that clears you for 90 days in Europe, the other way of looking at it is ,
90 days in Jail, and 90 days to play 😉🤣

I don't think you've got it right, Andy, because the Regs stipulate '90 days in any 180 day period', and this involves looking backwards as well as forwards, and the application of the 'decaying'/expiring days.

Using the EU Schengen Calculator, I entered a dummy stay from 20/08/24 to 31/10/24, a total of 73 days. The Calculator then reported that I could arrange a subsequent stay of only 17 days, because the 180 days started on 1st August 2024 and the 90 days periods started on 30th October 2024.

Changing the previous stay dates to 15th August 2024 until 26th October 2024 still gives a 73 days stay, *but* a 90 days stay can be approved because the 180 days period starts on 1st August 2024 and the 90 days starts on 30th October 2024. Just shifting the start and end date back 5 days gives a full 90 days stay option, compared to only 17 days in my first example

Why would your calculator start on the 1august when you didnt go out until 20th , the 90 days starts on day of travel to eu, the if you do 90 days you have to be back for 90 days: ie 90 days eu travel in 180,

No! The rule is 90 days in any 180, so the system operates on a rolling period; hence the ability to take a 2nd, longer, trip before the expiry of the 90 days *provided* that the return date will not exceed 90 days because Day 1 will expire and be replaced by Day 91 as the new Day 90. Whether you agree with the calculation or not, that is what the 90 days in any 180 produces, and is what the Border Guard will apply! Because you do 90 on one hit, you have no option but to wait another 90 days before another trip. But if you do a medium trip first, you can take a 2nd trip within the 180 days where the return date will be longer than 90 days at departure, but will be back within 90 days away by the time that the return date actually arrives, because the first days of Trip 1 will have fallen away by the rolling 180 day period. It's why you have to look back as well as forward - '90 days in any 180 days period', so it is a rolling calculation with every day being 'Day 1'. If you play with the calculator, as I did with my 2 examples, you can see how the change of only 5 days on Trip 1 makes Trip 2 possible for 90 days, rather than the 17 days that the 5 days later on Trip 1.

Only on here would the 90 day rule be turned on its head to such a degree that we now require AI Deep Seek to figure it out. :)

It does not affect me, but other affects of what happened do, seems complete bonkers to me all of this, but I suppose we just have to make the best of it. :(
