Hi Folks - New to the Forum
We've just spent the last 18months on our self build Sprinter conversion (seemed like a great idea at the time o_O)
With previously coming from a caravan, the idea of wild camping is both scary and exciting.
Just come back from 2weeks in Scotland - WOW!!!!!!!!! - a mix of wild camping and C&CC sites.

Bonjour Frenchy I have just come back from Ayrshire which has some very good overnight places and mainly free car parks. Some places are better than others. Powys is also good, they let you use the car parks. Don't come to Sussex, height barriers everywhere.
Have fun.

Hi and welcome, we just wilded around most of the coast of Ireland and got off the ferry last night in Cairn Ryan so we'll have a week in Ayrshire on the way home to Yorkshire.

Scary? At first a little perhaps. Always be ready to move off quickly. A rowdy gang of boy racers and doughnutters in the dead of night, local yetti banging very hard on the side of the van at 3a.m, door lock screwdrivered and door opened at 1 a.m (Sweden), been there done all that.
Thatcham cat2a alarm, all doors now chained/pinned should have had deadlocks fitted really. Overall despite all that we've done around 600 nights freeparking (not freecamping!) In many countries and felt safe enough. Choose where you park carefully. Eg, don't overnight next to or near a busy urban pub or club at weekends - yeti guaranteed! Don't park near the high tide mark - could be a very high tide tonight and an onshore gale - done that too, water and gravel thrown on the windscreenl! Enjoy freedom....

thank you for the welcome messages everybody!:)
just had a spontaneous weekend away with Obi Van Kenobi in Llangollen to enjoy the weather
1st night in the Pontcysyllt Aqueduct overflow car park (Queen Street , LL14 3NP) along with several 'youths' in their go faster cars....but all good
2nd night in a pre arranged pub car park (the Sun Inn, in Rhewl, LL20 7YT)- very friendly owners Carol & John
