Terry, does this need to be permanently linked to a mifi unit to work ?

Most satnav apps work offline so don't need an internet connection. However the good ones* also take an internet live feed of traffic conditions, so without internet they can't route round traffic jams.

*For a motorhome bigger than a panel van, the good ones are iGo Nextgen and Sygic Truck.

Some others claim to route allowing for vehicle size and weight, but they are not really getting it right.

I've been caught out by that one, lifetime is production lifetime until its superceded by a newer model. Maybe for a year after!

Depends on the contract, which should be read before signing up for a deal.

Over 20 years ago I purchased a phone deal (4 actually, one each) with O2 which included 50 mins a month of free calls to other O2 mobiles and all line lines "for life".

Still using it and getting free calls !
Only changes are the calls are now unlimited and include all networks; plus free texts and free mobile data.

One of my better decisions.

Why not just download the maps in Google maps for offline use.
