Satellite Signal in France

Hi as anyone noticed any problems with receiving sat signals in Brittany/France ?

Not in central France. You've aware of the move away from SD to HD signal only, needing a slightly stronger signal.

The only thing we have noticed further south is that our Humax decoder will sometimes say there is no signal even though the satellite dish has locked onto a satellite. So, we change our decoder to a non Humax one and it works fine down to Spain.
There is no problem in Brittany or in the Vienne, where we live.

Thanks thats what I wanted to know I,ve been using the same set up for 10 yrs just changed receiver as it was SD but it,s replacement worked fine at home

Not really but am using sd channels to locate sat signal and then can get some hd channels guess I,ll have to sort a better receiver when I get home

Funny enough we are getting problems with some HD channels at home. The main BBC1 etc HD channels are fine, but ITV2,3,4, have all changed to HD and these sometimes breakup, the +1 of these channels are SD and they work fine, I'm about to go out and check alignment of dish.

I use a old SKY receiver for Freesat and checking the signal and quality in settings using a 60cm dish in central France, Poitier, I've around 90% now.
I shortened wound up extra cable and unnecessary connections etc and confirmed dish alignment which in all gave an in crease from the previous 75% reading which did loose signal in poor weather on HD.

I had to retune my Humax receiver when the BBC channels were all made available in HD sometime in February, Sky boxes updated automatically but some Freesat and other satellite receivers needed retuning, have you tried retuning yours?

I have noticed that most of the channels that I,m getting the strongest signals from are meant for Ireland/Eire. Now top of Auvergne an no change in signal than when in Brittany

We have just travelled north thru France and found more channels as we progressed.

Now have put most Irish channels on receivers favourites list and am getting stronger signals
