We would like to have a combined sat nav/reversing camera fitted but have been advised to have separate systems, any advice or opinions would be appreciated please.

if you have separate with a dual camera and decent size screen you then have the advantage of being able to use it a rear view 'mirror' when driving

I have the Garmin Camper 760 with camera, one click connect, camera is brilliant, my van plus caravan is nearly 40 feet and bluetooth camera works OK so long as metalic blinds are up.

As a Satnav, it's just like most others and I'm pleased with it.

Forget the caravan/motorhome mode, it's absolutely useless, you need to check out a physical map first if in any doubt. It sends you down backstreets and under bridges that are too low. In fact it's actually worse in camper mode and I've tried every setting there is to overcome the problem. It's totally illogical.

But if you want a combined satnav/camera then it's probably the best so far

Sat Nav Reversing Camera.

Kenwood, high end units have several inputs, including an input for reversing camera, screen flicks over to R camera whenever you engage reverse.

We have no rear window on the current van so had a dual camera system fitted with one camera for reversing and one as a rear mirror. The display is fitted to the otherwise useless mirror and is excellent. I have a separate cheapo ebay truck sat nav which has always erred on the safe side for bridges weight etc so I am happy though I think I will go android tablet with Sygic truck next time.

Personally I would not combine rear view cameras on my gps display

I agree with maxi77.We too have a van with no rear window and so depend on the rear-view provided via the reversing camera. This would not be possible if it were combined with a sat-nav.

I've got the Garmin Dezl 560 Camper, and I don't have the problems you mention. It has warned me of low bridges and very sharp bends. Are you sure you've input the correct dimensions for your vehicle?

I don't think any of these things are fool-proof. I recently bought a truck sat-nav from fairytooth and, despite having the dimensions of my van in it, it tried to prevent me going under a bridge that I was familiar with and which I cleared easily; yet it tried to take me under a bridge that I knew from the warning signs was not a good idea!

Yes it's setup right, I'm a computer engineer. I've reset, rebooted, updated, tried every combination there is. It's setup for 11 foot 6 which is over the top for various reason and it let me go under a 10 foot 9 bridge. I kept getting out and checking to see if it was going to do it because it was tight. On the roads, it seems to avoid nice wide A roads (like the A19) at all costs and takes me down unsuitable back roads. The software and maps have been updated 4 times since I bought it so you would think it would be sorted by now. I've reset the motorhome profile many times, tried many combinations of size, tried fastest route, shortest route, you name it I've tried it. As mentioned it's actually worse in motorhome mode. I've just accepted that it's rubbish in motorhome mode as I don't have time to be reporting back and solving Garmin's problems. The main reason I'm fairly happy is the large screen, camera, snap on connection and easy installation with it being bluetooth. I have a van and 2 caravans so fitted camera with heavy duty velcro so I can move it easily from one vehicle to another. Just wired in to the rear lights so I can have it on anytime without reversing.
