Hi
After many failed attempts to access San Sebastián, can any give me a good location for stopping there?
Either centrally or with good access to public transport.
Thanks.

San Sebastian is easily accessible by train from anywhere in the region. We stopped on an ACSI site in Orio, you can wild camp on a carpark underneath the motorway there also. The train station is a short walk away, with frequent trains into San Sebastion

I fish at Zumaia down the coast, overnight at the free camping spot near the river, train station is a few hundred yards away. Couple of stops further out from San Sebastian than Orio.

The first Aire referred to by Runnach is the preferred location, but very busy, vans will be about a metre apart, so be there early to mid morning to increase your chances of getting a spot. We have succeeded twice, but failed twice.

The other Aire under the motorway near the stadium named arena Donastia is ok. We have stayed twice, but word has it that vans are less secure there. We have parked if there have been several others there. Bit slopey but otherwise fine. Buses close by otherwise a fairly steep walk down the hill, then a flat but longish walk into the old town (similar distance to other Aire). Once down the hill it is an easy dedicated cycle path to town. There is a service point at the northwest end of the car park, right under the bridge.

Aire is often full but lots of parking spots nearby. Basically university campus parking so , unusually, possibly better at weekends .

Zumaia is a great stop . Never fished there , just drank like one !

We parked on the aire there early April last year. It is a busy aire, so try to get in early.

Here is the aire location.

Slight word of warning about the aire in San Sebastián as posted by runnach.

We have stayed there many times and it`s great but be aware of the thick cable ( see street view ) that runs diagonally across the site 😱

If it`s raining or a very heavy dew the bloody thing drips and drips and drips 😵‍💫 From that height it makes a hell of a noise when they land on the roof 🤬

If that sort of thing doesn`t bother you then please dispose of this post how you wish :)
