Took out insurance with Motor Vision on the Adria, [which we are selling] in June and we opted for full breakdown cover for £80 extra. Rang Motor Vision today to see if they will transfer the breakdown cover to our new MH.

Answer = NO!

Twats.

I will be fuming if we don't get back some of the insurance cost when we cancel, once the Adria is sold.

Who do you use for Breakdown cover and why?

Peace of mind , cost of a recovery to gey you home , those nidely motorway punctures on smart motorway etc etc ect.and they don't have a dress code for drivers ,

Mercedes commercial account Ral, I do have cover with Comfort Insurance but my local Mercedes commercial dealer and I have a 30years+ relationship and they simply sent me a courtesy van and recovered the MoHo when a rear spring broke.

Bought it back and replaced both rear leaf springs.

The RAC will cover you without weight, length, height, width or age restrictions. However you have to be a member of the camping and caravan club. The breakdown cover is through a scheme called Arrival. You can get more info on the C&CC website.
I always take European cover for France and Spain etc, but living in N. Ireland I think we get cover in the Rep. Of Ireland too without European cover.

We use AA. Cover for any vehicle upto 3.5 tonne , recovery included. But never bothered with home start as have always had more than one vehicle and jump leads.

We had the iveco daily recovered twice,once from Sussex, pulley on fan belt disintegrated, and once from new forest , lower wishbone broken, back to Somerset. Both times on back of a truck.
Had the Berlingo recovered from Kent to Sussex...clutch slave cylinder... First guy turned up in a tranny and tried to insist that the dog , cockapoo, was shut in the car on his own whilst he towd us . We refused and demanded a proper truck with seating for 3 passengers. 2nd guy turned up in another tranny, but was happy for dog to sit on wife's lap in left hand passenger seat. AA Transit with 3 humans is a tight fit.

Nationwide FlexPlus account covers MHs to 8m & 7.5T, including Europe. It has proved excellent for our 2002 Mercedes Aclass INCLUDING Home Start where they replaced my starter battery through the letterbox opening! I'd already spent a few hours on it and he was happy to fit the battery which I got from Halfords for £20 less than the one he could sell me.

I needed a home start when my VB went down earlier this year BR came out, but couldn't do anything as the ECU had died, so I arranged for the van to go to a garage, and they came back and recovered it there a week later.
