Road Tax

carrying on with the weight theme...

We are asking DVLA to reduce the bracket from 9.5 ton to 7.5 ton - for various reasons. Anyway - got the beastie weighed at a weighbridge, at 6.9 tonnes. Sent this - along with the V5 to the DVLA - with the "new revenue weight" at 7500kg. They want to set it at 6900kg - as per the weighbridge cert. I have asked them to make it 7500, so I can put in some water..... They seem to be getting into a twist about this. Any suggestions?

That is the same problem that I had. They took the unladen weight on the weigh ticket as the Revenue weight which to them is the maximum weight the vehicle is allowed to carry.

You need to get a new VIN plate with a lower Maximum weight not just a ticket from a weigh bridge.

Commercial vehicles have a plating certificate, Motor Caravans do not and getting this through to them is difficult. I found a visit to the local DVLA office with all the documentation was the solution. Swansea were a waste of time.

it shouldnt be problem . you can voluntary lower to 7.5ookg . there is no need for a weight certificate . you do have to make sure you dont overload you now know its under the weight you require. i would get our local dvla out to inspect it as a camper . that does away with the plating . they then organise a new log book saying gvw 7.500kg . and a camper /m,home . my truck is plating excempt .infact its mot excempt. stay calm and visit the local office .or ask if they can send their vehicle imspector out to se it . perhaps we are lucky here in cornwall it works well here.

Its an NHS vehicle (a little known taxation class - zero rated...) and as such, has never been plated - and VOSA are not interested in it.

The mrs is disabled - and gets zero rate tax disc for one vehicle. the bus is (would be) slightly more expensive than her car.

under a 1994 vehicle exise and registration act its in class 1 vehicles used for police, fire brigade ,ambulanceor health services inc vetinary. or class 4 vehicles used for disabled.
all known about . give a call pm .number .
