carrying on with the weight theme...
We are asking DVLA to reduce the bracket from 9.5 ton to 7.5 ton - for various reasons. Anyway - got the beastie weighed at a weighbridge, at 6.9 tonnes. Sent this - along with the V5 to the DVLA - with the "new revenue weight" at 7500kg. They want to set it at 6900kg - as per the weighbridge cert. I have asked them to make it 7500, so I can put in some water..... They seem to be getting into a twist about this. Any suggestions?
That is the same problem that I had. They took the unladen weight on the weigh ticket as the Revenue weight which to them is the maximum weight the vehicle is allowed to carry.
You need to get a new VIN plate with a lower Maximum weight not just a ticket from a weigh bridge.

Commercial vehicles have a plating certificate, Motor Caravans do not and getting this through to them is difficult. I found a visit to the local DVLA office with all the documentation was the solution. Swansea were a waste of time.
