Ripped awning canopy

Can anyone tell us how to repair a ripped canopy on our Fiamma F45 zip awning. It has ripped right where it goes into the roll so it's not just a case of putting a patch on it.

Is it a rip that goes across the width of the awning or from front to back, and how long is it?

It goes from the edge right by the roll across about 10 inches from back edge of the awning towards the front following the roll.

as temporary measure could you use duck tape to stop it getting any worse

you wern't camping in port eynon the weekend just gone and came and had a chat to us with the same awning? We were in our ducato with our friends in their T4?
