Return to Spain & Portugal

Finally completed the ninety day nonsense, Brittany after the Hereford meet.,
I’ll have to come back by the middle of October, in order to get another 90 day thingie in for next year.
Oh, that and a small matter of a hospital appointment.

We're off to Portugal via Spain next month, can anyone tell me if I need a clean air sticker for Portugal please.
Thanks.
Alan.

We got the French one for about a fiver which I know is also valid in Spain. Not sure about Portugal to be honest but spent a few weeks there this summer without issue.

My advice would be to at least get the French one ad cheap and relatively easy thru official website.

Others more knowledgeable will probably be along soon.

The hospital and GP appointments are slowing down a little, so tomorrow we may be able to fit in 2 nights at Tentsmuir Forest, which is almost 35 miles away ... We have a Crit Air Category 2, but not sure whether we'll need to look for an overnight stop ...:ROFLMAO:

Steve

If you get a chance Morella is stunning.Alcaniz and the Gorge walk is a must.
We love our trips to Spain each winter. In January we are off to Madrid/Cadiz/Calpe/Benicassim.

First week and we have been making our way across Northern Spain.

1) Aguilar de Campoo 42.78640 -4.25720 AF. Aire with parking along both sides of a quiet road. Lively town with; TIC, river walks, castle, monastery, churches, colonaded main square with restaurants.

2) Almanza 42.65990 -5.03950 AF. Quiet, full services aire with EHU and WiFi, only 1 other van there. Small village with medieval town walls and colourful clock towef built in 1947. Good place for chilling out and for walking the circular trails through oak forests.

3&4) Leon 42.60820 -5.56390 AF. We stayed at the aire on the east of the city, one of the three aires in the city, room fior 25 vans but still overflowing into the car park. Short walk to the TIC and cathedral. Lots of grand, size and appearance, buildings. Lively small streets and squares with bars and restaurants.

5) Astorga 42.45150 -6.06570 AF, lots of space around the bullring. Visited Gaudi's Episcopal Palace, with its Museo de los Caminos. There is also the Cathedral de Santa María de Astorga. This was our 730th night in the campervan - that's 2 years worth of nights.

6) Ponferrada 42.54281 -6.58657 AF. Templar Castle, Radio and other museums, which we visited the last time we were here in September 2017, at which time we were the only van at the aire.

7) Las Medulas 42.45950 -6.74585 CR, CP for Orellan viewpoint of Las Medulas (Roman 1st and 2nd century gold mining). Good viewpoint and Las Galerías - the tunnels the Romans dug and then flooded to collapse the hillside to get at the gold. Steep, winding approach road with a couple of narrow bits in the village, but OK.

Lots of vans at the aires, apart from Almanza, mainly Spainish with a few other nationalities but no UK vans so far. Weather has ranged from low 20s to mid 30s often with a chill wind.
