The hinges have snapped on the door to the freezer compartment in our Dometic fridge. We are currently in France at St Cast de Guildo, not too far from St Malo. I could try and get by until we get home but we still have two weeks left.

Can anyone suggest where I could buy replacements?

I carry one of those as spares, It was cheaper to buy two with the p&p so as soon as I break one I order two more, they are easy to break if you put too much pressure on the open door

Both of mine have had to be replaced but i caught them in time when they`d just started to crack.

I`ve Araldited them both and keep them in the motorhome just in case, they might just help until i can replace them with new ones.

Thanks for the official term David, that`s now saved in on the laptop and my phone

We have an 8xxx series fridge.
I don't know if the hinges are common to other models, but they are definitely designed to fail, with a hole in the weakest point.
They are not cheap, Dometic are not stupid.
We've replaced 3 in 6 busy years and always carry spares.
The secret is to not overload the freezer then push the door to compress the contents. Simple leverage makes the hinge snap.

The Dometic Freezer Door Hinges.............

............ are a serious weak link in the drop down door design.

When I bought my Autosleeper Palermo one of the hinges was broken through and the other badly cracked across the plastic surrounding the retaining screw hole. The dealer replaced both hinges but within 2 years I noticed that both hinges had started to crack.
I removed the hinges and bent up a couple of pieces of aluminium sheet to cover the hinge part running under the freezer compartment. This was then fixed in place using two-part Araldite epoxy resin (the original version NOT the rapid cure version!). I decided to leave a hole in the aluminium for the original fixing screw. So far the modified hinges have held up very well. I'm aware that this doesn't help the OP but perhaps others may wish to inspect and possibly modify their hinges as preventative maintenance?
