Repair or replace shower tray?

Hello everyone, We have a Swift Sundance 590 Rs and the shower tray has developed a couple of cracks. There are firms that offer to come and repair these filling gaps, cracks and a tough new non-slip coating. Has anyone had this treatment? Was is a good job? How much? .
Other than that, has anyone removed and replaced a shower tray for a model like this? It has a turn toilet and a curved washbasin cupboard which may be disguising a wheel arch.
I can do a picture if anyone requires it.

Having had a similar problem with a swift, i wish I had bitten the bullet and had it done by speedcoat, not cheap but apparently very good. It ended up with most of the bathroom stripped out to replace the shower tray.

We had our shower tray repaired and resealed in the way you describe under warranty. The repair was done by a professional the dealer brought in but the repair only lasted about two years before developing new splits. Since the dealer paid for the repairs, I have no idea of cost. If the tray can be easily removed, I'd therefore suggest replacement rather than repair if you're going to keep the van. HTH...

I had mine replaced with a fibreglass showertray by A W Marine and Sons, they can supply the tray for you to fit yourself or they will do the replacement for you, if they don't have yours in stock they will make a mould from your own tray, their work is excellent and it is a permanent repair

Speedcoat are a good repair option, and saves removing panels etc to replace the shower tray equally if a replacement tray is difficult to source it is a good way of fixing your problem. If you are going to replace a tray rather than disassemble your current arrangement overlay the new tray over the old one you may have to trim it slightly to fix then seal the edges using a decent sealant and reconnect the drainage plumbing this technique gives the new tray additional support with the old one underneath and should stop the same problems occuring. Saves a lot of time too

Having checked their website, I note that they are also looking for motorhome clubs and, "would like to offer our services to your club members". so perhaps @Geeky Philip might be able to do a deal with them e.g. discount for giving them a plug. From your post, we seem to have at least one satisfied customer in our midst!

My thought are
Try Speedcoat first
If problem persits AW Marine to copy yours and refit..BUT that envolves taking too much apart for my liking !
(either by me - no thanks or by AW Marine)
Any pricing from speedcoat anyone.
Our showertray is fine but speedcoat might be a good pre-emptive strike

We had a crack in the shower tray a few years ago and Murvi replaced it under warranty.

I would not be happy with a repair in the bathroom.

If water coninued to leak through then it could cause an awful lot of problems before discoved.

Had ours done with Speedcote at their HQ in Ludlow. Arrived at 9:30 and left at about 2:30. I was able to leave early as I agreed to put the fixing screws and caps back myself as well as the plug hole cover (just drop it into place and screw the central screw in place). I would have had to wait another couple of hours for them to do it but I did it the following day. Hardly an issue for me and it got me home early.

The tray is probably stronger now than the factory replacement which, to me, is another reason to repair rather than replace.

The owners were telling me that a number of dealerships have bought and used their system because the cracked shower tray is a common problem.

Well, thank you to everyone who replied. I will be in touch with Speedcoat and check they fill voids around the tray before recoating it. I don't fancy taking the entire bathroom apart, having done that on a previous van.

Still no idea of cost though, no reply from the firms I've asked.

Eighteen months ago it was about £320 but I suspect it has gone up a bit since then Speedcoat that is.

I paid £1000 but that was for a new sink, shower tray, a panel under the mirror and A W Marine removed the old ones and refitted everything, other photos on this thread

After hitting the deer in Germany we took the van to A W Marine and Sons at Canvey Island, very pleased with the work they have done, van before repair What it looks like now the original bumper was unavailable but Anton adapted a later one complete with the later wheel arches I was thinking...

My shower tray was done with speedcoat just before we bought it, the dealer had it done. That would be about two and a half years ago now and I like the finish, it does make it a bit more non slip.

So why do the shower bases crack is it because the wood floor under base becomes soft due to maybe water ingress or if it just sits on the cellotex insulation board -is it that then compresses with peoples weight - not sure what i'd do - really depends what the base is made of but pretty certain there are some cheaper repair options out there
