Rentalcars.com prices too good to be true?

I've just joined this rental outfit, and the quotes are coming in at 70% of the prices quoted by their partners! E.g. Fiat Panda for 28 days with CDW - €408.00. Centauro online quoted €608!

They are probably going to charge you something like €30 a day for extra insurance or a €600 deposit. Be very very careful here as not only does the standard insurance not cover you for damage to tyres and glass, but unless you take their insurance you will also not be covered for underneath the car, the keys and even the clutch belive it or not! I've rented loads of cars over the years in Spain, and I even worked for a hire car company in Spain for a while and even with my knowledge on the subject I once nearly got stung for €400 for a complete new exhaust system some years ago. Also there is the full tank or not saga which I will not even go into!! Take care, I now personally only use Helle Hollis.

That's good advice, and I will take care to ask the right questions. Helle Hollis looks good, but it's a bit of a trek from here!
Cheers
John

Pricing varies from country to country but I have just checked for a weeks fully insured hire in December in the Algarve is about £50. I find that now many companies do offer a full insurance cover package especially for locally arranged hire.

Also try holidayautos.co.uk. They are an ethical uk company and I've always found them extremely competitive. I've used them many times over a 15 year span in Spain, Croatia and Greece and never had any problems.

we used holiday autos for years, whatever insurance was purchased online there was always something to add when the car was picked up.... final straw was when i popped to malaga , late night flight , car hire was mini bus from terminal to a back street garage ... had to pay a £900 pound cc deposit or their extortionate insurace. or walk back to the airport, the 900 was refunded ok ,but i was stung by the bank for currency conversion charges on both the deposite and the refund,
just had a week in menorca , went with hertz, got a better car than we booked and no pressure sale of extra insurance on pickup at the airport. car came with full tank , return with full tank

Wow! Sorry to hear that. Used them for years and never had any problems and they've never stung me with any extras on collection. They are my hire company of choice.
