Recommended POi south of Exeter

We are traveling down to Falmouth soon late afternoon and do not like to drive in the dark we would like to stop over at a POI south of Exeter
For the night.We will be taking the A30 after Exeter in the direction of Oakhampton. Can anyone please recommend a nice quiet POI.Lots to choose on the list but would like a recommendation please.

I've stayed at the Swans Nest Exminster a few times, and use the pub. And there is a CU just 500 yds past too, but not to suited to long vans to get into
