So yesterday I went out to the van to do a bit of messing around and noticed a few mild spots on the upholstery so I stripped of all the covers as they all have zips and out them in the wash on a cool short wash but the spots never budged so it looks like an upholstery job later in the year,
So who has had a reupholstery done and who would you recommend please.

when i had my first van i restructured the seat/bed layout i went to a local upholsterer not a specialist i recut some cushions new covers for them 2mts x 600 were only £40 couple more with foam supplied only £100 i didn’t have the front seats recovered though they would have done so vast choice of fabrics i went for a plain one they used in pubs so hard wearing and the foam density made a good mattres, so worth checking locally

Think all this money you have saved is burning a hole in your pocket. I can only talk about a guys camper I was in regal furnishings did the job. It was new foam and covers. And I was very very impressed by the quality. I have been to some motorhome shows and sat in some way over 100k. And my bum was sore within 2 minutes. Granted its not the smallest bum. But was shocked at the lack of comfort in it. Regals job was a treat to sit in. And was impressed with there work. And would make the journey down from Scotland to use them. I know thay aren't cheap. I believe thay have patterns for most vans. So thay might be able to post out. I would need to see the materials getting used as photos can turn out different. Gerry

The seats in van were threadbare when I bought it eight years ago and so I bought a couple of throws. Every year since I've thought about reupholstery and come to the conclusion that it's a lot of money for a van that might not have long to live. It's cost a fortune in throws though.

FWIW, I saw an example of Regal's work and was very impressed. I thought at one time to have them do my van and ISTR they wanted just over £2k for the front dinette, rear lounge and both cab seats in a reasonable fabric. To my chagrin, we had more urgent things to spend the money on and so never got to use their services...

However, that was almost four years ago and prices have likely changed. It's a two-day process, described on their website at https://www.regalfurnishings.co.uk/our-process/ (.) They have complimentary EHU -- but I'm unsure whether you could arrive on the evening of the day before 'day one' and/or leave the morning after 'day two'. HTH

Clean your ass before you sit down, put a asda caver on them £5 a set.

I used to get mildew spots on my boat sales . Removed them by soaking in diluted bleach . Also works on
Pants . DISCLAIMER always do a test peice first . Takes a few days but kills the mould.

I guess I’ve been lucky in the past, always managed to a one woman/man business locally that has done the job. TBH, these days I’d put a throw over anything I didn’t like and keep the money for more entertainment additions to life...

My brother is an upholsterer and he was telling me yesterday that he has replaced the foam interiors with sprung ones.
He maintains it is far more comfortable both to lie on and sit around.
He's right. The seats in my van are spring interior and it seems more comfort and less sweaty than foam.

I tried bleach before I put them in the washing machine but faded it but still marks so for now I’ll use throws and later in the year I’ll have a full upholster done.

We used Tappers near Birmingham. Not cheap but good quality. They collected all the seats and returned them 2 days later. They also do an option where you can stop on a nearby campsite. This was 6 years ago, the van is used a lot(normally) still pleased with it. They go to a lot of the main caravan shows.

I'm sure thay dropped the owner of camper and picked him up at train station. He got 2 front seats recovered one needed new foam. Back seats recovered cushions. Thay put a cover on mattress to match the rest at no charge and another freebie but can't remember what. I looked them up on you tube but wasn't impressed and material selection. It's years old. Or was the last time I looked. But quality was right up thr. Gerry

Annie have you tried elbow grease on the spots

DISCLAIMER as molly2 said always try a bit first but I’ve used it on clothes that have marks on and it’s been ok

Now we know how bill is getting to go away in van. Blame him and make him pay for the new covers. Annie love the way you think. 😂 😂 😂

We got a caravan and put it up the top of the garden for the our sons and friends to use when visiting. The seats were a bit floralish and faded. Sharon bought a roll of material and dusted off the sewing machine. Made curtains and covered all the seats. Looks good. I’m sure a woman of your calibre could do it yourself. 👌😉

I have done that in other vans but I think I’m going down the professional route this time all that diesel money I have saved will come in handy 😂😂😂
