RANT time, sorry

I dont know if my POI is out of date but it shows the car park on Lake road, perhaps its not available anymore. There is also Castle Rig stone circle about a couple of miles out of town so you would need a cab probably. Once years ago we just parked in a side street off the town centre and nobody bothered us but it was just a VW camper.

May have something to do with the ANNUAL STAMPEDE for pitches. Booking started 6th December 2017. Don't know why they do it it loads of pitches are booked and then canceled at the last minute because the weather is rubbish. Be fairer just to have an on going booking system with site pitches available on a rolling basis.

We meet one guy who always books the same weeks year in year out and never goes anywhere else. Well each to his own.

I was told the other year that they were rolling out MH service points to make it easier to dump grey water etc this will be done over the next 20 years :lol-053:

The annual stampede is the other club CMC (Caravan & Motorhome Club) The CCC (Camping and Caravanning club) use a rolling booking system. The CCC is the one that will let you dump waste, fill water, shower etc (for a fee) even if you are not staying on site. The CMC hates wildcampers.

CU Keswick, next to The Theatre By The Lake.
It’s a pay and display and only 10 minutes walk to the town centre.

Wrong club. You're thinking C&MC. C&CC take a deposit.

Yep just realised its the wrong one ..

Mind you the lot I was referring to are just as bad ..

Contact the hotel. Tell them that the campsite is full, your mate is staying with them.
You both want to eat and drink and, without having to drive.
Ask them if they could let you overnight in your fully self contained van. Mention how you've heard that their full English breakfast is fantastic.. Blah blah .
Costs nowt to ask and you can spend the campsite fees on high living.

Thanks for all your replies.

The only problem with the above one is that the hotel is a tiny town centre one with no car park of any note

Maybe

we went there last year ( first and definitely last time ) with our daughter and son-in-law so they could try out their new caravan.

You`re not missing anything, the camp commandant is ex-military and a first class, grade a, obsessive nob :mad2:

He marches around the site, all he`s missing is a swagger stick and thinks he`s still ordering the young privates / boys about.

There are enough orders / commands printed on signs everywhere around the site to destroy an amazonian rain forest.

I`ve no idea what the attraction is because the site was packed solid, maybe they all go there to be abused and humilitated.

we should click our heels mine herr, pj

Phone the site directly

I've often had this AUTOMATED reply.
Whenever I've phoned the site directly I have been offered a pitch.
It seems to like 3 or more days.
