Pump & water tank

Hi all and Happy New Year. If anyone has seen my pics they would have seen I'm making a van from scratch so have loads to learn. I have an upright water tank with a hole for the pipe to suck water out, with an external pump. I finally fitted it today only to find the pump leaks. As I'm strapped for cash the best option is a submersible pump from Ebay for £7ish but whats the way to drop it into the tank as surely if you have a big hole to drop it in it'll all slosh out?

Most tanks have a removable access, often like an oversized screw cap. This allows for cleaning out the tank and also for fitting a submersible pump. The tank is fitted with a 'nut in bulkhead fitting' (see p22 of the CAK catalogue here http://www.caktanks.com/files/CAK_09_21-25_Water_Plumbing_and_Pumps.pdf) which allows the pump to be fitted inside the tank and connected to the van's water system.

go down to your local caravan breakers and buy the pump used in a caravan its submurged and has a sleeve that covers the hole so water wont escape or shouldnt

i self build and use a 140 ltr water tank made by fiamma £45 each they are with a hole in the side for a pipe to run to a pump made by surflow with variable flow rate on it the tank has a 10"screw on lid for access like they say to clean

Hi Baldeagle,
Another thing: I see you have a filter fitted too. That's OK, but have it removed when it's freezing. It simply can't stand frost; it bursts for you never can empty it completely
