How long you got? If I were starting again (on our way home) it would be the Alps or Pyrenees. Forget about everything else. Don't bother with the Loire which is where we are now. Its so boring!!

We have just under two months. I really enjoyed following your trip but balcony roads and mountain passes would not be a relaxing break for me. I like my roads to have white lines down the middle. We're going to work it out by the weather, the next week doesn't look great so after that, if it doesn't pick up where we are we will maybe head to the south.

We are currently at Meung-sur-Loire. Nice free aire between the town and the river. Good if you like old Mills and lots of small rivers.

For us? Nah, too much driving. If the weather is decent we may not even be south of Bergerac.

So the demonstrators picked Wednesday 10th September. That's handy as most of the junior school children don't go to school on Wednesday. As it turned out, the government they were protesting against got voted out on Monday. Ok, the new government will have to introduce some cost-cutting so the protests will continue.
I had an appointment with my ENT specialist to continue the use of my CPAP for another year. His clinic used to be here in Bagnols sur Céze where I tend to be based in the winter months, but it's moved to Uzes so a 30 minute drive instead of a 10 minute walk. So I got to Uzes in plenty of time as I wasn't exactly sure where the clinic was. As I arrived in the town, the traffic came to a standstill and Google maps showed the road ahead as red. I was still 900 metres from my destination and could see just ahead of me an entrance to an underground car park. I was able to squeeze through the stationary vehicles and managed to park.
As I walked towards my destination from the car park, I immediately came across a public meeting outside the Hotel de Ville where people were making speeches to an assembled crowd. Everyone was well-behaved but the police had closed the road for this to occur.
When I walked back after my appointment, the meeting had dispersed and my journey home was uneventful.

Cheers. We might have a look there tomorrow for a flying visit. At Amboise at the moment. Michelle quite enjoyed it. The highlight of my day was tearing through the town at Rush hour up to E. Leclerc on the scooter on a cheese hunt terrorising the traffic.

The weather has been rubbish on and off all summer in the south at least. Started off perfect in the Eastern mountains and northern French Alps. Went downhill from late July and has been iffy ever since. One extreme to the other. Two months is plenty of time though to get south if thats where the good weather is. Get in touch of there is another 40 degree heatwave (doubtful) and ill tell you where to to go to escape it with (mainly) roads with white lines.

The long range forecast is showing Beziers Narbonne and down to Perpignan as the most settled with little rain or no rain, current temps high 20's dropping to mid to low 20's in October. Of course that could all be rubbish on the actual day but the south west is currently the most settled forecast if you want sun and warmth.

Is there such a thing as a long range forecast though? I reckon 5 days is about as accurate as they can be these days. One things for sure, beware of Meteo Blue etc or any of the good weather sites two week forecasts as anything after week one is purely made up. So you might see five or six days of accurate weather but the following week will be guess work. We noticed this over the summer. Week two was always glorious sunshine but of course a week later it was completely different.

Saturday is market day in Amboise, with some decent food stalls.

Are you at the aire or municipal campsite? If so, there's an Intermarché much closer.
