Can anybody tell me how long the water stays hot for in the above 13litre boiler please?

A little disappointing really. On my boat I had a calorifier and the water in the lagged copper tank would stay hot for well over 24 hours.

I guess the insulation on the Malaga isn't so good and the boat had a bigger volume of water to retain the heat, although I could lag the pipework to improve things I suppose. Might have another rethink.

Once up to temperature you only need to replace what you're losing so insulation becomes the major factor.
I'd have expected your Sizewell D/2.21 gigawatt system to easily cope in the summer but if not then you could hack one of those cheap £70 Amazon jobbies by removing the plastic case and build it to a slightly larger box lined with polystyrene or celotex. It wouldn't be hard.

I'm erring towards keeping the Malaga Merl mainly because I can't be arsed to sell it. I was thinking along the lines of beefing up the insulation and guessing that the weak point is around the hot water outlet pipe so insulating that more might help.

I suppose I could also doctor an insulation jacket within a box similar to what you suggest?

Which reminds me - I haven't sealed the exhaust hole yet after the removal and sale of my Truma heater on Saturday!
