Pressure washers can damage your tyres

wow thanks for that, hand wash tyres as well as rest of body on camper from now on:cheers:

As ever when you read to the end all that is needed is a bit of common sense. On the other hand as pressure washing is a normalpractice perhaps the tyres should be able to take it.

Common sense! ****! If you didn't already know that you shouldn't be driving. What ever will they dream up next?

I have been using pressure washers on my vans for years and will continue to do so.....

Never had any problems, yet......

Like everything there are pressures and pressures... 10k will cut wood into bits. 15 will cut concrete. See how long your tyres last at that level...lol

As for CS.. it's as rare as rocking horse poo.

car washes

Some of these polish drive throughs (other ethnos are available)are using 1700 psi plus, some are not trained or insured against damaging your vehicle.talked to a guy the other day who left his van at a rumanian outlet only to receive a call saying they couldnt get in to turn it off after jet washing it.Eventually retrieving it discovered behind the dash awash,it was a rightoff and no compensation.

These east european car washers also use the most aggressive traffic file remover (TFR) too in those pump sprayers, so strong that it has eaten into the rubber on my Vivario van :scared:

You be taking your porche in then:scared:Ive just recently decided to use the old fashioned roller brush type as my car is a working vehicle and i can live with the fine scratches and at £2 a go much cheaper.

No, managed to do it my self, doh, I used the pressure washer to clean out the dirt that had accumulated in the chrome lettering on the boot and managed to lift a bit of the paint lacquer where I got too close with it :mad1::mad1::mad1:

Years ago I used one off the rotary car washes in my company car, there was a bang, bang, bang on the roof as it went through. After finishing I got out to look and on the floor was a wrapped up car aerial (not mine) that had given the roof a good thrashing, but no serious damage, mostly polished out .

Ah yes,the mangled aerial.I too learned the hard way after hiring a car and returning it via the car wash £60 replacement bill has made me vigillant ever since.

Washing the car? nah, you've totally lost me.

The bike, occasionally, but the car..... well we've had it 6 years, so can say with certainty its at least 6 years since its had a wash.

Jet wash can potentially not be great for motorcycles either, in particular the chain and the wheel bearings, though its more a case of not being stupid with the lance.
