Powapacs

You have answered your question

So I bought a power pack and only ever used the USB outlets.
This morning I was called on to start a car.
Full charge all lights glowing, clipped it on to dead car and it took all the power in 2 seconds and left me with one light out of 4.
Unknown to me the said dead car had no output from the alternator so the battery was really flat.
I have only ever had to charge the power pack twice.
Any explanation anybody.
Its Chinese but from a local supplier so I can go back.

The car battery was dead dead dead
provided the car battery will maybe attempt but give up it still has a lot of charge

Connect the jumpstarter and wait maybe 5 mins to enhance the car battery then try

For a dead dead dead battery you need the AA or leave it on a mains charger for 36 to 48 hrs
Then try as above but it is likely the car battery is FUBAR

I should add that there is currently a discount code listed on the website which gives 15% off.

Thanks but no

I've offered a free inverter that will do that and charge your 'phone too, it is msw though

I have a small 300w inverter which does most things
BUT it is not Pure sine wave and it has bugg3rr3d an electric toothbrush.

I doubt if yours is pure sine wave
That together with other features means the Powapac is tempting
Even low power pure sine wave inverters are about £100

Just ordered mine.

I went for the 31AH in Carbon silver along with the lighting bundle (will come in handy on the boat), a 12v car charger, 12v dual output splitter, came in at £246 with the 15% discount.

Nice people to deal with.

I had a little difficulty getting the 31AH version, so in the end I changed my order to the 28AH (rather than wait) and got a refund for the difference.

Having now received it, I have to say that I am very impressed.

I had it Hydro-dipped in the Carbon Silver finish, and it looks very smart. It appears to be very well made and robust, but weighing in at just 1.4kg. The lighting bundle which I ordered with it is also very good, with excellent output.

So far, I have run the lights for about 1 hour and a small (10") HD TV for 2 hours and the battery hasn't yet dropped below 100%. Reading the reviews, a lot of users are getting up to a weeks worth of power or more from these units, so I reckon it will be a great back up to have in the van and boat or as a primary power source when I am fishing or tent camping.

I have now ordered the padded carry case and a Powalite to go with it.

One satisfied customer!

(I should mention, 10Amp maximum at 12v)

That’s good o hear Rob we’ve all got different needs where power is concerned so the more options the better and the more people willing to take the risk and try new stuff the better. 👍

I was looking at one of the cheaper jump starters that had usb/12v out and 19v for laptops. Dunno how good they are ? Just to top up phones laptops to save LB for a day ? Maja

Is there any chance you would do a proper test with it, charging mobile each night, keeping laptop charged and any other gadgets to see how long it would last?

Everyone does use power differently but if I was to get something like this at present it would be for charging our two mobiles, two iPads and watches. Anything else like fridge and tv for us would be emergency use but our tech is always with us and we consider it as must haves so a proper real life review would be good :)

Before folks shout about tech being not needed it means I can connect to work and work from anywhere with a phone signal 👍

No problem, I will give it a hammering over the next week.

In the meantime, there are several reviews for both the lithium and the standard Powapacs on the website;

PowaPacs – Products

I'm thinking about ordering one of these as a backup power supply to charge phone's etc or to run the 12V TV;

PowaPacs – Lithium Duel Voltage 31Ah Powapac

There are several reviews on the lead/acid version here;

PowaPacs – Powa Pac 22ah

But I think I will go for the more powerful lithium version.

Any thoughts?
