Portable solar lithium power banks storage at home , has anyone looked into home storage and use at home regulations , and home insurance cover clauses regarding power banks

A 'powerbank' is a portable battery, and as far as I know, there are no regulations around using them at home. There are however recent regulations regarding fixed batteries for storage of energy at home.

There are various types, from small ones to chargea phone a couple of times, to ones to boost a car battery, up to larger ones to run electrical items.

Thanks that is why I asked the question

I use both extensively 42 solar panels 16.53kwp 2 stacks of 15kwh home batteries to the house

Delta 2 max and 2 extra batteries in the Workshop

same in the Motorhome with 450w solar panels with 400ah lithium

In winter I charge overnight on an EV tariff and in spring/summer swop to a feed in tariff, works very well.

I think the OP has probably heard something about storage batteries in the home, there have been recent changes to IEEE regs which ban storage batteries being installed in lofts and on exit routes.

I made a point of my home batteries being outside, no rules at the time but just didn’t want them in the house. Their wall mounted on a north facing wall on the workshop.

Having any potential fire source between you and an exit just isn’t a good idea in any circumstances regardless of any regulations.

You will have to live another 100 years to get payback. 😂

No Trev.

House batteries and solar on course to pay back in 25 months which will be 73 months from install.

Workshop not so good, looking at 21 months which will be 43 months from install.

Motorhome never going to get pay back tbh, solar/lithium install paid more than I should have, now added EcoFlow and extra batteries when tbh there not needed, but SWMBO doesn’t understand its a van not a hotel

TBF I'd have thought that the drop in battery and solar panel prices over the last couple of years must make the prospect of a home solar system very attractive.
It seems Octopus still do a form of feed in tariff too. Not really looked into it lately as we're intending to move but it's definitely something we'll be considering in the future for sure.
A quick fag packet calculation says a £60 solar panel pays for itself in less than a year.

My electricity bill for the last 12 months was £404.09 including £175.20 standing charge and that includes running an EV for 9,500 miles

In fairness that’s because I’m away most of the spring/summer months and feed into the grid and get money back. I also have a large south facing roof and a big garden and the whole back fence has solar panels (28)

In winter I swop to the Octopus Go tariff and therefore only pay 7p/kw to charge the house batteries/EcoFlows and car between 23:30 and 05:30 the batteries then run everything all day.

So far this month Octopus owe me £16.33

Stop smoking and you will have the money saved for panels. 😂

This time of year my standing charge is more than my gas bill , once heating is off ,
My auto heating fired last night twice, once about 4.30 and again at 7 ish, wont come on all day now as sender stat at 22.5c which must fall below 20.5 before fireing.

Stop farting about with stats turning stuff on and off Trev. You already know that leaving it running all the time saves you money mate🤣🤣🤣🤣

Will it save me money if i leave my car running all the time
I think Trev recommends leaving it running all the time with a brick on the accelerator pedal just to max everything out.
Non of that money wasting yo-yo rubbish for our Trev

It dont run all the time, only fires when temp drops below 20.5c and cuts at 21.5c, in the last few weeks it has only came on at about 5 ish in the morning, the hot cyl fires 3 times on programmer a day if it drops below 45c on the tank stat.
Many folks homes i go into is like a freezer room in tescos, when they land at my kennal its wild hard to get them of home again, im thinking of charging a fee. 😂
