Plug Dilemma

Beginning to have the same problem in the cab as my computer , to many wires and not enough outlets, one 12v outlet in the cab to supply sat nav, in car video, radar tracker and phone, I know you can get plug-in extra outlets but I find they are never a good connection when moving as they tend to joggle out or you catch one of the leads and pull the lot out, with the amount of in-car gadgets there must be a better way to connect them.

I have a two plug , plus two usb , cigar adaptor on side of the sofa, attached permanently to the leisure battery under the drivers seat. This has solved the problem of not enough outlets, whether moving or not

I've added these sockets in my cab and in the back of the van, wired in directly to my leisure battery circuits. They can be mounted flush, or with the angled bracket, and I've found them to be secure and reliable. They also sell a range of other useful parts, and have good prices, decent quality and fast delivery times. :)

I had the same problem...I too have fitted the above marine graded plug in place of the standard cigar lighter and an extra one in the cab and two in the rear of the van..work perfect, always a good solid connection whether it be sat nav, phone charger, bluetooth hands free, etc...

With all these additions "wired direct" to the battery please ensure you fit an inline fuse as near to the battery as possible. The fuse rating needs to be less than the current carrying capacity of the cable you are using.

Ahaa.... please note that I said "directly to my leisure battery circuits." ( meaning not simply an "extension-lead" type plugged into the original lighter socket). Each one is fed via its' own separate fuse from the fuse box.

Good advice about the fuses though! :)

Good idea to highlight that...It's a given for some, and for those who didn't know it could be a harsh lesson to learn...

Thanks for all your feedback, some good ideas food for thought, I would like to swap them back and forth between car and motorhome.
