PLG or PHGV ? Help!

My V5 states PLG no weight listed, but my vehicle is plated GVWR 3955 and GAWR Front 1818 Rear 2609 KG, it's a Roadtrek 190v registered new in the uk
2001, is this in the correct taxation class? Any help gratefully received.

I am having an Orbit Turny disability seat fitted which is quite heavy so will get it weighted when all bits sorted. :drive:

I've been in touch with SVTECH this week regarding an upgrade from 3,500 to 3,700 kg.
It would move it to PVGH and £60.00 cheaper road tax.
On the downside there is the driving license issue and I believe the mot is different.
I would have thought your van should be PVGH but may be wrong.

Yes road tax is cheaper but the MOT is a class 4 same as a car, my problem was finding somewhere that could fit ours in as it is a 7.5 ton truck conversion.

I always take ours to the bus depo, most now do repairs and MOT's on private vans etc.

I found the place that does all the council vehicles which is basically the old council run testing station now run by the NORSE Group, they were happy to do mine and have done it every year they don't do any work on the vehicles at all so no incentive to fail things for the sake of it either

No refresher test here as far as I know but I believe you have to have medicals after reaching 70,

Thanks, but my problem is the vehicle Plated weight GVWR 3955KG which is over the 3500KG for PLG, it has always been this plated weight, therefor RV Gold who did the first registration from new were either incompetent or fraudulent. fortunately I have a C1 license, but if I didn't and was pulled over how would I fare, seeing the vehicle registered as PLG but in fact being PHGV.
The £60 saving would be very welcome, but as I am over 70 I don't know how long I will manage to keep my C1 license.

Yes that is correct, my license is only valid for 3yrs. ..

Surely if you are over 70 you will have had to renew your license already, I thought you automatically lose your C1 unless you have the medical to keep it?

You are correct, at 70 I had to have a medical and due to my medical history had to also go to the local hospital and test their rolling road, I passed this time but the license is only valid for 3 years, then have to go through it again..

If you fail though most vehicles at 3950kg-4000kg can be downgraded to 3500kg, you probably couldn't carry much though

Yes, the one with my GP, around £70.00 I think, but because the DVLA wanted tests done at the hospital, they paid for that!
