Hi All,
Spoke to a gent at the weekend who had remapped his Ducato based Swift MH. Got me thinking about whether to do mine, we have a 20 plate 2,2 140 hp Blue Boxer conversion.

Looking at various companies out there it seems it can be done, I just wondered what those with more experience than me in this field have to say about it.

I want to remap for more torque not speed. Will this remapping impact the engine life, some state improved fuel performance by remapping but pure physics says that if you are looking for more grunt it will use more fuel.

Welcome comments / feedback .

PS -Enjoying the freedom the MH is giving us. :)

we had our 2.3 jtd fiat done about 8yrs ago it did make a big difference (more grunt) the chap said that as long as you dont drive it hard then fuel consumption will be better. I havent had any issues with it at all

I had my 2.3 Fiat engine done from 130 to 160. Immediately more grunt, as good on fuel and more pleasant to drive. It did knock out the original Valeo crappy clutch quickly. The replacement LUK/Schaeffler I fitted had a better feel and has lasted extremely well.

Exactly what I did with the clutch, mine had only done 19k and started slipping apparently there was a fault from the off with them

Stock clutch was Valeo. They are cheap and cheerful, built down to a price. LUK are far better. When I was working we sold each type and if you wanted quality you paid the extra.

Mine started slipping last year on any hill if I stayed in 5th got worse in February and worse still this trip, but dropping to 4th helps, home on Friday so I might get a new one fitted for the Irish trip in September, it done over 4k since the first slip though on some pretty steep hills.

Ours was the same as along as you didn’t put too much load on it it was ok, it was like it for a few thousand miles

I'll get a price for it, I have a few other jobs to do like get a bit of welding done to support the silly double step, only bolted to the ply floor so it flexes and fit new rear light body.

Regarding slipping clutches ....

IF you don't use your ducato/relay etc regularly (particularly the pre 2004 versions)

Make sure the slave cylinder push rod hasn't developed rust that prevents it returning fully ....

They are usually a plastic slave cylinder that sits on top of the gearbox and get wet from water ingress into the engine bay when parked ....

I'm still driving around with the new one I bought after ours started slipping post Covid park up ....

Only investigation whilst away revealed that rust on the pushrod was the issue ....

And a couple of clutch pedal to the floor/and sliding foot off to allow the pedal to return fully sorted it .
