Petrol or Gas Heater

I have opted for a diesel Truma 6E rather than an LPG one on my new van. My oldest Alugas refillable cylinder has only a couple of years left before it has to be replaced at 10 years which made me think about the alternative.
Interesting, did you go for a compressor fridge as well? What do you use for cooking? In the winter we only use around £1.70 a day in LPG with the fridge, heating and cooking even so being full time I'd love to find an alternative but I'm struggling with the cooking side, even with plenty of lithium and solar electric doesn't really cut it in the winter, well in the UK that is.

1 litre of LPG holds less energy than 1 litre of diesel. LPG is still cheaper per KWH but it is not a straight price per litre comparison. 1 litre of propane contains about 7KWH of energy whereas diesel is about 10KWH. LPG at 80p/l costs 11.4 p/KWH and diesel at £1.60 costs 16p/KWH. Bear in mind that home electricity costs are capped at 27p/KWH which makes both LPG and diesel look cheap but compared to natural gas at 7p both look a bit more expensive.

The compressor fridge is standard in the Malibu and contributed to my decision to opt for diesel heating. We will have a gas hob for cooking but with this being the only LPG appliance we should only need a small bottle, I was thinking about a 5kg Safefill. At less than 9kg full it would be considerably less weight as well as taking up less space. My current 2x14KG Alugas weigh in at 48kg when full. We are downsizing and space and weight are all important.

Full timing must present very different problems and LPG is a good way of storing energy. 1 litre of propane holds 7.08 kWh of energy but 100Ah of lithium battery only holds about 1.28 kWh.
