at first it went haywire
then settled down
but now I cant get the letters
1 s c or x
can anyone tell me if this is gonna be expensive to fix
ah your thinking how did I print these letters here
i've got them copied on notepad and just paste them in

On reading this post, am I right in predicting that you're left handed?

Dont think it will be a problem cos I assume you turned it upside down and shook it vigorously(the laptop, not the dog). I'm no expert but I would have turned it upside down in the shape of a pyramid and placed your:eek: hairdrier underneath to dry out the liquid.

Thing is, was Paddy trying to tell you something(your spending too much time on the laptop when we should be in the park);)

hey I never thought of the hair drier (good advice)
but I think Ive got a short circuit somewhere

seriously leave it to dry out and try it again tomorrow my last mobile phone got wet twice and played up, once it dried it was ok again so cross your fingers and give it time to dry

Try the advice above, leaving it time to dry. Put it in a warm place eg Airing cupboard.

If this fails, and you have water trapped, you may have to disassemble the keyboard and clean it out manually.

laptop

Sundown,

How come you can tell us "I cant get the letters 1 s c or x". Your laptop is either working again and you didn't realise or you have more than one PC!!!!!!

seriously is it better yet.

He told you: he copied and pasted the letters in from a notepad file.

This copy and paste hack can be useful. I once used it on a public machine without any keyboard at Wimbledon tennis tournament to navigate away from the sponsor pages and surf the web. In this case I just highlighted letters ctrl-c and crtrl-v into the address bar. When a host came round she was dumfounded as to how I managed to get out of the sponsor pages cycle.

BTW, Sundown, if you can't manage to dry it out, then you could always add an external USB keyboard for a tenner from Tesco or somewhere. I know it defeats the portable idea of a laptop, but if you are using it mainly at home it would be OK, and the cheapest way out.

yes I keep notepad on the dektop and click it when I need a letter
like this 1 s c x
I copied the letter from other pages
its still not working but im frightened to take the back off
incase I cant put it together again

I've spilt tea or coffee on a keyboard before. It very often knackers them.
The problem is not the moisture, but the sticky residue it leaves after its evaporated.
Unless you can take it apart and completely clean all the keys, you will be left with keys that wont work.

laptop

Hope its ok for you, at least you know how to work yours, I have bought a new laptop, and I have not got a clue what to do with it, so I can go on line, its still in the box until my son comes over from Sheffield again to visit, then ill ask him to get it up and running for me Lol. Hopefully it will be before we go to Spain :)

Lap tops on Laps

You really should not use a lap top on your lap, they can do rather nasty things to your fertility and then where will you be. Joining lenny on the search for viagra on Ebay.
