Parcel shelf style speakers

I'm trying to get some speakers to put on the dashboard of the van. I'm trying to get a pair of "wedge shaped" ones - very 1978 Mk3 Cortina !! there were some in the last van & they really throw the sound at you. Keep looking on ebay etc but no one seems to make them any more, they're all the recessed/ flush mounted things. Anyone know of someone still making them in a cave somewhere?

surely a man of your talents could make a box for the flush mounting speakers. Having said that, have you tried some of those old car discount shops, they might still have an old set in that the youngsters wouldn't touch with a barge pole now?

Yes knock them up from 9mm ply. Sand down and round off the edges, paint matt black and you won't know the difference. I bet they will be a nicer tone too than the plastic ones.

Maplins used to sell that type of thing, but like others it's been a while since I've looked for such a thing.

Try a car boot sale, you'll probably pick up a pair complete with speakers for a couple of quid. Or failing that your local Freecycle group.

A man of his talents????? dont you remember someone walking all the way up to the non-existant icecream van, taking loads of pictures, then discovering he didnt have a memory card in the camera.
I might be mistaken, but I'm sure it was BRIAN.........
