Now that the old van is getting sorted and has now been cleaned there is an ever increasing patch on the bonnet of bare metal where the paint has flaked off which is annoying me. Its never going to look shiny and new but I wondered what can be done about it. The body shop I use are a top professional outfit and the owner is a complete perfectionist and if I take it to him it will cost a fortune and likely take ages. I did wonder about finding a breakers with a complete intact bonnet. I guess if I get just the bonnet sprayed it will stand out more against the rest of the van. Maybe get the whole front end done? Maybe leave it :D Dunno.

Any suggestions? Can it just be touched up?

I'll keep an eye on this. Our bonnet is suffering the same way but not as badly and I was considering wrapping but I don't want any black or garish colour.

Cheers

There is a huge array of stickers available including very simple ones like the Ford van front stripes

Painted my bonnet satin black to contrast with the green body. Looks smart & didn't have to worry about a match....

I don't know where you are based, but if you are in Scotland I can highly recommend a good Motorhome Bodyshop in Bonnybridge. They have done bodywork repairs on our motorhome and on my car at very reasonable prices. The owner is called Stuart Wardlaw, Tel 07921950318.

The other motorhome bodyshop I have used, on the more western side of the country, is Swinton Motorhomes in Glasgow, tel 0141 773 1212

Thanks. Dunno what a Wrap is so had to google it. Might work if I can get a plain white. I presume you cant do it yourself if you are a self confessed useless git? The "Rock" stickers are a good idea apart from two things. Mrs D hates stickers and logos etc on vans and its likely ill be selling it. Ill have a look locally and see if anyone does these Wraps. The bill for getting this van ship shape is mounting up! 😬

I suggest a professional job on the wrap to show to prospective buyers.
I have done some research and from memory plain colours available..as you suggest !

I would mess it up for sure and dont really want black. I would be happy with a cheap touch up job though.

I just realised its more than the bonnet though. Its going round the door windows as well.

Maybe its just what it is with it being old. How much money do you throw at an old van you are going to sell soon anyway (probably)?

I got the white wrap to do at home, Having watched videos I thought it would be easy. ...it was till we got to the front of the bonnet......at least it stopped the paint getting any worse. I'm now cosidering a bonnet protector....unfortunately they only make them in black. Stickers sound ok.

As said, firms like Chips away will sort that out at your door. There are a few similar firms that will be local to you and might be cheaper.

Mine is going in for a touchup but I have to use a proper company as it is the area above the Cab and will need a staging to work off.

First I did wrap it but after a few yrs it cracked up around the bonnet vents then I did as you first mentioned bought a s/h one from a scrap yard £25. Wrapping the bonnet was easy enough after watching a few utube videos but did have help
