Just noticed though, if you visit Manchester you have to pay a visitor tax even if you're English!

Interesting to know if it will apply to Welsh residents who ask for a room in Cymraeg 😉
It will be an accommodation tax paid for by all, people will look at the bottom line and decide if they think the price is something they want to pay.
Who will pay? If adopted by a local authority, the levy will apply to visitors staying in overnight accommodation, whether they have travelled from within Wales or elsewhere. The levy will be simple in design and seek to limit any burden placed on businesses.

How do you say can I have a room in Welsh Glandwr :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I'm sure it's "Have you got a room boyo" ?
Nage, nid "Do you have a room boyo"; ond "Gennych ystafell i mi?"

More seriously, there are a lot of events in Wales that could easily be relocated over the border and every one of those would be under threat. Two examples are the Hay-on-Wye festival and the Black Mountain picking weekends held at the nearby Baskerville Hall Hotel both would be in England if they moved just a mile or so down the road! Thankfully, if it goes ahead it seems it won't take effect until 2027.
