Overnight stops at Durham dales - Stanhope, wolsingham etc

Just bought an old st johns ambulance to have some little adventures with my young family.

Could somebody link a thread where I can find details of free overnight stops in laybys or car parks etc.

If you find yourself straying into the next dale, there is a lay bye next to the Langdon Beck hotel and their pub grub is amazing. If you fancy a Sunday lunch best book, farmers go there , do I need to say more. If you can get the table in the bay window, there are fewer finer views from a pub in my opinion.

Also if you like a walk, not far from Weardale, is Cow Green in Teesdale, if its not windy its lovely, the wind up there, the Helm wind is to be avoided.
