I fear, my friend, you are on your own here, no South Africans, even no Boers. You'll have to do with a few Dutch and Flemings (who all understand Afrikaans) the rest are rooineks and a lost frog.

Ouma Rusks

Undersiege,
Finally, I found out what Ouma Rusks are: these are 'boterkoekjes' you dip in coffee ! Ouma did not invent them; she knew them from the netherlands, where she (or her ancestors) probably came from.
Ouma: ou(w)ma= old ma. South Africa and Holland and Flanders have more in common than you can think of.
My favourite wine is 'Kaapse Pracht' delicious :)
'Rij maar an ossewa, rij maar an' ;)

Ek ook is lief vir Ouma Rusks, takes me back to my days in the SADF ;)

Ouma Rusks

Aaaahhh .... for sunny days and dry veld and Ouma Rusks dipped in Koffiehuis coffee! I now live in sunny Scotland where its rude to dip things in your drink! We will be going to Arisaig this weekend and looking for stop-over places

Geniet jou boerbiskuit!! :D :D

I would kill for a bottle of South African Klipdrift Export Brandy: but you do not export it.
