Normal nonsence from both sides, first people dont have a right for a view out there front home windows, second, if you pay rd tax then you should be able to park where you like if no yellow lines etc.
What councils should do is put up signage with no awnings or outside tables etc along with music blaring, sleeping or eating in a van ok with a 48 hr max stay and no return within 48hrs.
I would also say a dedicated marked out zone at seafronts for max 10 vans and other better placed zones elsewhere out of sight and away from houses.
Councils and towns make money from motorhomes so why the war against them.
I van owners want to stay longer then a campsite is for that.
 
The war against motorhomers continues to annoy me, first because many local authorities do not see it as a necessary obligation to cater to a(n all be it small) percentage of their citizens even to provide a parking place!! For example many car parks in Sussex have height barriers.
Yes to bikes, cars, and disability vehicles but no to motorhomes and campers because they are a bit like gypsies maybe ( an age old prejudice)
However car and motorbike owners: park badly, throw out litter, use car parks for nefarious activities often causing annoyance to others but they are NOT banned.!!
Rant over for now.

And yes, I have written to my local authority to no avail.
 
This is precisely why we`ve gone down the route we did after selling the motorhome because it`d got to the stage of not even being able to use theses places for a brew/ something to eat.

We really missed the days out we used to have in the UK, this Renault Trafic ( 1.91m tall ) goes under 99.9% of height barriers is only 4.99m long so fits in parking spaces and has no outward signs of what is inside. It also has darkend rear and back windows that makes it difficult to see inside but you can see out. Being an ex- motablity vehicle it`s already on the V5C as a M1 diesel car and not a van with windows, it`s also Euro 6Y so good for any LEZ`s

I`m almost there with kitting it out ........................................

Double passenger seat swapped for a LHD drivers seat and swivels fitted to both cab seats so we can use the limited room in the rear to full effect.
All the following is held in place by utilising the Unwin rail system that is already fitted in the vehicle.
Ecoflow Delta 3 for power and folding solar panel if needed for a top up and works brilliantly with the following.
Vangear CRX pod with induction hob, sink, water containers and tap that easily comes out if we need the room.
12v/240v coolbox that will be pre-cooled before leaving home so will easily keep milk / food cool for the day and only draws 45w from the Ecoflow.
Ninja AF100UK that happily sits in it`s protective bag where the fridge space is in the CRX pod.

Finally and most importantly a PortaLoo in a dedicated box that is also an extra seat because we both need the loo during the day due to medication and public loos are downright disgusting these days.

We never intended on sleeping in it and if we have several days away in one go we`ll use hotel/b&b/airbnb`s if needed.
 
We've got a vivaro, which is the same body as the traffic. Ours was already converted to a camper with the common layout of a cupboard unit down the offside and a 2 seater rock an roll bed . With the double front passenger seat we've got 5 belted seats. As it's the lwb version we've got room Infront of the bed / behind the front seats for a porta potty. I've removed the 3way fridge from the cupboard behind the drivers seat and now use an electric camping fridge/freezer. The leisure battery was in the cupboard around the rear offside corner, it's now behind the drivers seat with a b to b charger wired properly.
We only use the fridge when were driving or on a campsite with electric so don't need solar. The gas hob does the tea and cooking breakfast..

We also use the fridge / freezer in the car for summer supermarket runs, even without precooling it's down to to a low enough temp by the time we reach the supermarket to stop the ice-cream melting on the way home.
 
It’s a shame but inevitable tbh, it’s always the same a number of idiots cause a whole group to be treated as if everyone of them are of the same ilk.

With Covid there was an explosion of buyers all thinking they could live the dream, the reality isn’t what they thought and they simply don’t know how to behave. There’s a bloke lives in the same street as me I think he’s actually on here, he’s just a f*#&*)# disgrace tbh. YES CHRIS I MEAN YOU Bought a VW camper goes away with his wife and 3 kids and parks anywhere, sets up a single use BBQ etc, fills bin bags and just leaves it all and drives off. Thinks it’s not his fault as the councils should provide bins.

We all get judged by the likes of him is the truth.

A few years back I called into a boatyard in Scotland for gas, another van was parked by the toilet emptying his cassette and taking on water. I asked if I could do the same and was given the go ahead (it was kept locked) when I went in I went back to the office and asked where they kept the cleaning kit “have you made a mess” I was asked. No I said I haven’t, but that dickhead did. I cleaned up and emptied my cassette etc.

The owner thanked me and I suggested he should take a £20 refundable deposit then they’d give a f&*#

Correct people do not have a right to a view but I don't agree with parking (overnighting) in front of houses .
At the very least it will , inevitably (understandably?) , cause us problems .
Btw Edinburgh council built a big hotel a few feet from my only windows !
Totally irrelevant but just thought I'd mention it

I hope the back seats are not sideways facing with belts, they must face forward.
 
Our vehicle has already proved its worth on a trial run to Morecambe for wifey to visit her friend who owns a dollshouse shop ( wow, what a coincidence ).

After visiting we went into one of the carparks looking out into the bay for a brew & bite to eat and there was already 3 motorhomes parked in there.

Within 10 minutes the parking warden appeared and walked straight past us then told the 3 motorhomes to leave, quick check around the carpark then left walking straight past us again :cool:
