With Her BRAND NEW HYMER
I am a bit worried about the reversing..want to fit one of the reversing warnings on offer. any one any comments.
I have had a little problem in the past, reversed the Chausson into a pole, pushing the bike rack support thro the van wall.(3 hour repair) knocking over a french road sign (buggered bike) near venice end of tail light (hour picking up bits, hour superglue together still going. But I shudder to think of the response of Lady J if I graze this new thing
Apparently there are two systems magnetic resonance, and rad

PLEASE

I have 3 different lots of reversing on my MH. 1) Reversing camera. Cost £ 400, get it wired professionally 2) Reversing bleepers, that is with 4 sensors that are fitted to your rear bumpers with a display and sound. Cost £65, fit it yourself in a couple of hours. 3) Reverse bleeping bulb, just swap your normal reversing bulb for the bleeper. This informs people behind you that you are reversing. Cost £3, fit it yourself in 2 minutes.

I find the rear camera invaluable. When I first got the 'van I reversed the vehicle up to a fence so that I could just see the bottom of it on the camera screen, and then got out of the van and measured the distance from 'van to fence, (3ft). I now know that if I see something at the bottom of the camera screen, I have 3ft to play with.
I also have a reversing distance bleeper, and will be fitting a reversing bleeping bulb in the near future.
The best bit of kit for reversing imho is the reversing camera which is wired to come on automatically with reverse gear, however, I switch it on when driving forward so I know who/what is close behind. It also helps with overtaking, so I know when I am past the vehicle I am going by.

Thanks you two, I will try the sensors first because Lady J will get out and bang (gently) on the new van if any problem (did you see my post on Importing hymer 534)
I don't know how to post this on the relavent threads to tell every one thanks.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that reversing beepers have to be switched off after 11 pm. i am not sure if it is the law or just to stop your neighbours chucking a brick through your windscreen. :D:D

I am happy for you in getting your new MH from Germany. Enjoy it. Lady J will not need to get out of the MH, the bleeper will let you know from the display in front of you how much room you have. My sensors bleep once every second when I am 1.5m away from an object, at 1m distance it bleeps twice in a second, at 70cm it bleeps continueously. If you wish, I could post pictures of it.
