Off to Northern Ireland and Donegal

as good as Moher and MASSES cheaper

they charge now?
last time I was there it was a free carpark and you just walked along the edge (or dangled your legs over)

Shock, horror.
But at least it is cheaper than the n.t at Giants Causeway and they do make it clear that it is free to the cliffs...The n.t annoy me hugely....elitist lot!

The Beehive Village is a replica of original beehive houses.... near the Kerry Cliffs that i mentioned earlier - i have been trying to download some photos for you but cant seem to find a way to do it....

so i am going through my photos and finding interesting neolithic places for you

Cahermacnaughten in the Burren i think

Kilfenora Crosses are fascinating..... - in the village of Kilfenora which also contains a church which was used simultaneously by both Prods and Catholics, and in the grounds are ancient remains of earlier religious buildings and artefacts. Wonderful place and a great tea shop !!

If you are going into co antrim just a few miles from my hovel is st patricks mountain which has a small car park loos and a path walk to the top where the view from the top is smashing on a clear day.
Not far from here are the ww2 remains of gibraltar camps.
Close by is a aire for over night at Broughshane, which is the gateway to the glens.

We liked Dingle and Kinvara

We spent a lot of time touring Ireland, north and south but mainly on bikes so changes what you look for to a certain extent. We found Dingle and even the cave and stalagtites were an amazing experience. The wee pubs nearly all had traditional music in the evenings. Kinvara area was near the Burren and worth the effort. In the more remote areas you can just ask the local farmer or crafter and they will allow you park up on the their land.
We really enjoyed touring there, found a lot of the Donegal area difficult to find a park up as quite busy with new expensive homes.
Have a good one.

Many thanks for that. Don't put yourself out re the photos. We know the Dingle peninsula inside out and have been going there once or twice a year for years now.
That's the problem. It's so beautiful and has everything we love, so every time we go to Ireland we end up going to Dingle!
Also know Clare very well.
Have you read the Burren mysteries by Cora Harrison. They are set at the ancient law school at Cahermacnaughten...highly recommended...
Must give Sligo a visit though...

no i haven't heard of these mysteries.... i will see if i can find one and give it a go. i love the Burren so much - even in bad weather. i went to the Burren Art School last summer. It in the middle of nowhere and is part of an old castle keep. I was lucky enough to find it open and wandered round an an exhibition of last years students work which was on display.

The light at sunrise and sunset, as it bathes the limestone, is almost as good as at places like St Ives and Venice....

re Sligo - there are monuments to Queen Maeve at Knocknarea, Sligo - its a very historic area

Knocknarea, Sligo
