Obtaining a second key

I've only got one key for my van. Citroen want about £150 off me to buy another. I've tried at my local garages and locksmiths but only managed to get a skeleton key to open the van. Anyone know how I can obtain a fully functioning key for less than the Citroen price?
 
Hi carol, try 10para (Paul) you met him at the new year meet, He is a locksmith and should be able to help you he lives close to me, I don't have a contact for him so it will have to be a pm, andy
 
Carol try Timpsons Shoe repairs their bigger branches cut keys you should be able to get an exact copy of the one you have.

They offer a standard key without central or one with the buttons for central locking I got a spare one standard key for £25

Agreed try this, not all Timpsons have the computer software(of 3/4 in my area I think only one does it) but I got one for my Ducato for about £40 and he was very friendly and helped find out how to reprogram the alarm fob I got as well.

Carol I had to go to Timpsons in Leeds to get mine cut that was the only one in our area that did them cost about £35.
 
I've no problem getting one cut, Annie. There's a place in Bradford. It's getting it programmed that's the difficulty. As I said, I got one cut but I wouldn't be able to start the engine with it!
 
I had a spare key with a programmed alarm fob supplied by a local auto electrical specialist who has the necessary programming software a couple of years ago.It was for a vauxhall corsa and was much cheaper than the main dealer,at the time I seem to remember it was about half the price the vauxhall dealer had quoted,still vastly overpriced though.
 
Carol if you phone your nearest Timpsons they will tell you the nearest outlet that cuts and reprograms keys. And the price of them

Much more cost effective than main agents.

Most good auto electricians will be able to sort you out.

I have used Neil Harrod several times in the past and can also recommend them,efficient,knowledgable and friendly.
The auto electrician I used for the vauxhall spare key fob was Car Diagnostics in Mansfield : Pete Wilson Auto Electrics Ltd which is nearby.I would have gone to Neil Harrod but had to wait a week to get in so I tried Pete Wilson who were equally good and I got it done the next day.I don't think there is much to choose between the two apart from parking a motorhome,Pete Wilson's is on a busy junction and is quite tight to get in but if you inform them they can usually make room and stop the traffic on the main road while you get in.It's also directly opposite Edgehill motorhomes so you could have a browse in there at the same time.

plus it's every key on the ring, house,car, camper, safety deposit boxes, handcuffs, whatever

When we had the vw t5 I had a local mobile auto locksmith cut and program a key on my drive cost £75 about 2 years ago
