NT car park by the harbour. Local Council trying to dissuade MHs. If you are not in the NT then it's £20 to park a large vehicle. Wells next the sea has a newish car park on the way in with room to park MH on the grass. Height Barrier but wether it is open or closed is political according to CP guy. The big car park by the beach also has a barrier. Not in use today and they said they could squeeze us in 😁 The train has gone so it's a walk to Wells and the harbour.

They are a queer bunch in Norfolk alright. View attachment 108036

A Norfolk man has been arrested today after sleeping with someone else’s sister, breaking basically the only law in Norfolk.

Daniel Danielson, 26, was charged with having non-incestuous sexual relations with a woman – a crime which could see Danielson face up to ten years in HM Prison Norwich.

Danielson claimed that he was unaware the woman was not his sister as most people in Norfolk are extremely closely related.

‘I just assumed she was my sister or at least my cousin. In Norfolk, most women are,’ he told us.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will escape prosecution after tests showed her to have an IQ of just over 40.

‘That makes her one of the smartest women in Norfolk and not someone we can afford to lose,’ PC Ryan Danielson.

See our post from last year which inspired a lot of correspondence with council particularly whenfrom @maureenandtom , and action from others also!
They just won't consider that motorhome owners might want to park for the day to visit the town. We won't risk the barriers being down again so will just avoid it. Spoiled our day out.

As I see it there are two related items here, both addressed by the council and published in full in the REC thread mentioned above.:
  1. Barriers. They are there to discriminate against Gypsies and Travellers in Caravans and Motor Caravans. Barriers will normally remain open but as soon as Travellers are suspected to arrive or are seen with one or two vans the barriers will be closed: Nick Baker, Corporate Director and Head of Paid Service of North Norfolk District Council said: “The process would be that the police would inform us of their intelligence of expected travellers (or, potentially, we could become aware of one or two vans with travellers) and we would make local arrangements to drop and then man the height restrictions.
  2. Overnight Parking of Motorhomes: Prevention is to protect the interests of campsite owners: Steve Blatch, Chief Executive of North Norfolk District Council (supplanting Nick Baker above) said: “the district has a very large number of authorised camping sites … which the council believes it is unfair to undermine given the investment made in these facilities by these businesses.”
Steve Blatch also wrote: "the byelaws do permit overnight parking of vehicles for use by local residents who do not have private parking or by people staying in local guest houses or self catering accommodation without private parking but do not allow any overnight sleeping or camping in vehicles"
