Now that it’s gone a bit nippy…

Chap told me of some old men working in a opensided leanto cutting fire wood, they had one of those garage oil blowers going, after a while one old chap fell of the chair he was tying bundels on his lap, ambulance came as they thought hart attack, nop poisoned by carbon manoxide.

and I’m still waiting for my Truma control unit to arrive, I have taken to putting on a single burner and blowing the hot air away from the cupboards above with a small fan - very effective and I’m still alive. Only taken me 5 years to work this one out. Is it a suicidally stupid thing to do? I only do it when in seated part of van, wouldn’t leave it on while lying down - that’s the theory anyway. I do have a CO detector.
We often leave the smallest gas ring on if it gets slightly chilly. We have three roofvents in the van all of which have fixed ventilation. Not dead yet, and the new replacement co2 detector has not sounded.

The wardrobe light on my nuevo stopped working ,the halogen bulb was black through overheating. Changed the bulb for compatible led, now it doesn't get warm , I also changed the bulbs in the 2 front the wall lights also led , same bulb as wardrobe light ,

I thought folk had changed to led bulbs a few years back, living in the dark ages are you. 😂

On our first boat we used to put a blue engineering brick on the hob for half an hour before going to bed.

Just before retiring we would switch the hob off and the brick would radiate heat for quite some time.
Absolutely brilliant - I love an engineering solution. What are they bricks made of anyway?

Did similar in previous van which didn't have heating. Gonna do something similar again, as I prefer it to diesel heater.

More dense the brick, the better. I would stick to an engineering brick, chances of it splitting on stove are much reduced, because they don't absorb any, or much, moisture. Or find an antique soapstone bed warmer.

Just looked up to see how much soapstone bedwarmers are, 🤣 will stick with engineering brick.

We fitted a chinese diesel heater for £126 in August & used for first time at the weekend. A fantastic bit of kit & was ssssoooo warm after 5mins. Off grid now as much as possible ,,

Not so sure about the plastic fuel line being close to the hot exhaust, maybe a wee shield.

...sounds like they are made of clay so I reckon any bricks would do;

I remember 'engineering bricks' from when I was a kid and they were a purplish colour and had holes in em and were made of summut very dense.

Engineering bricks are specialist construction bricks designed around high strength, water resistance, and acid resistance. They are used for a variety of non-visual uses within construction projects, especially ones involving water such as groundworks and sewers. They are also used at the lower levels of brick buildings where strength and load-bearing need to be prioritised.

Engineering bricks are made from clay, much like facing bricks. They are produced from high-quality clay and heated at higher temperatures than standard to offer their unique benefits. Within clay brick construction, engineering bricks will offer the best strength and water resistance available.
