Hi all, just relized my lights are running off my leisure battery while i am on EHU but have power to the 3pin socket from the EHU,only just noticed this as the lights dimmed and went off!I'm in a 1989 Renault traffic conversion by Autosleeper, does anyone have any ideas?
I've just found out, to my cost, that the EHU doesn't take over the power to the lights. It should keep the leisure battery topped up, though. It isn't with mine! My battery charger is either switched off or not working - I'll find out which when I can find the thing!
Had the same problem. We had to camp in the caryard while the paperwork was sorted out and three days later we lost the lights even though we were on hookup.
Quickly found the charger under the passenger seat and switched it on. Problem solved.
Morning all, woke up this morning, leisure battery nearly charged overnight off of EHU,so could the problem be my battery not holding enough charge? Thanks for the replies by the way, great to know that even late on a Sat night no matter where you are, what the problem WILCAMPING INTERNATIONAL RESCUE are there to help you...!
It sounds as though it could be the battery. We had the same problem and a new leisure battery solved the problem.
We have just come home after a 10 day trip and we deliberately switched off the battery charger so that even when EHU it didn't charge the battery (to replicate a wildcamping trip). The alternator kept the battery topped up, no problem.
We are now satisfied that the problem was the battery.
Just in case that you don't know, there is a big difference between a vehicle battery and a leisure battery, so if you do decide to take the plunge make sure that you buy a leisure battery even though it might be more expensive than a vehicle one.
Phoning around can save you money as there can be a vast difference in price.
Hi Canalsman, yep alternator charging just fine, think i will put new leisure battery on and see how things go,will post the outcome when i have some news, thanks everyone for your help.
