New Website and a Request

Hi,
After my on-line store glitched ages ago and I lost all the product images which apparently made it look like the store had been abandoned, I have finally got round to building an all-new website and shop.
Be interested in opinions, so please visit https://www.wildebus.com

Now the request....
I have added a Testimonials section to the site (at the bottom of the home page) and I would like to populate it, but of course only with genuine reviews.
I am not looking for reviews of the website, but for anyone who I have done any work for, supplied products, provided help (either face-to-face, phone, via email or maybe via the forum) and would like to provide feedback and comments that they would be happy for me to post on the Website that would be great.

If you would like to do this, then send me a PM with your words, the name to assign the review to (if you prefer not to use your full name, then maybe just first name and initial of surname?) and your rating from 1 to 5.
Alternatively you could send me a message via the website Contact page and under "Topic" choose 'Testimonial'
I'll post just as you have written as long as it is clean! (reserve the right for correcting possible speeling mishtakes though ;) )

Thanks for reading this far :)

The site looks really good. Very user friendly and efficient.

The only criticism I would make is regarding the reviews section they do scroll round rather quickly before you can finish reading a particular review. I have seen this on other websites and it can be annoying particularly if somebody has written a long review on something I am interested in.

Personally I prefer to click on a reviews section and read through them at my leisure - maybe I have missed something and you can do that?

Having said that, I do think scrolling reviews do look good on a home page and make it look a more professional site.

I agree with Robmac, by default I couldn't read the reviews before they were gone. I happen to know that hovering the mouse over the panel halts the slideshow but I suspect many will not.

Also the text colour on the Shop sub menu in the footer is unreadable because it is white on very light grey.

Other than that I think it looks great and look forward to reading your blog as it populates.

I didn't know that which is pretty disgraceful for somebody who worked in IT for 30 years!

Good site but prices require an adjustment.

I can adjust the time. I left it at the default of 3 seconds, which I thought seemed a bit fast as well.
I can also add a note to say somelink like "hover mouse over review to pause slideshow", which would be useful. Thanks for that :)

I’m getting a “403 forbidden“ message when I click on the link.

Hi, thanks for trying.
Where are you located (country) and do you use a VPN?

Because of the issue with Spammer and hacking attacks you get on the internet (for example, within 1 day of this new site going live, there was a automated hacking attempt literally every minute for hours trying different passwords for an 'admin' account), I have blocked large swages of possible internet users where hackers come from and also where people in some locations would have no interest in the site. So Russia, Iran, Pakistan, India, etc are blocked as well as most of South America and Africa.
a VPN is great but many are done to appear from a specific country (typically to get round out-of-country video streaming blocks) and can get caught out by this kind of firewall setup unfortunately.

Long story short - if I know more detail, I can a whitelist/exception where needed to fix this kind of situation.

A bit unfair Trev to compare cheap Chinese copies with Victron products?

There are many products made in China which do not compare quality wise with genuine articles.
It not actually a copy, but really is a different product that works in a very different way. The fact Victron used that generic shape of housing does result in an unfortunate comparison.

PS. £7.76 for one of those if importing direct from China is a bit expensive!

Did you see my comment about the footer sub menu?

Did you see my comment about the footer sub menu?
Sorry. yes I did. The Shop sub-categories are not meant to be in the footer menu (they tend to sneak back in when I am not looking as I make changes!)
Thanks for the observation (y)

Good looking new site, well done & all success! 👌

(See you up in the Borders after lockdown (for tyres etc.) 👍 )

Yes, I was using a VPN although it was set to UK. I’ve switched it off now and can access the site (y)

Thanks for the update.
It might be a VPN service that is also commonly used by Spammers so has been blacklisted by the company that manages that kind of data?
It is so annoying having to do this kind of thing knowing that genuine people get impacted by it as well :(

I looked at your front page and thought safari tours. Sorry but that's what I got from the zebras. It just does not look like anything to do with vehicles and electrics which frankly ain't the best of starts.

I have been self employed with a website so I have been round the houses on this one. First impressions really really count.

hmmm. That is a popular and respected one. But then they can't control who uses it and what for I guess?
I sent you a message with a bit of extra info (didn't post on thread due to nature of info).
