Or not,was all set to pull the trigger with Brownhills on a new carera 4 Bert campervan at 72g approx and getting 40g for my pilote back to standard ,eg take all solar off,all victron and 300amps lipo4 but then they ask for a £2000 deposit to hold the new van for me,tataa says I. So thinking there making 20g AFF me. So p700sensation with all extras still for sale at£43000.

Yeah
They tried a similar trick with us, years back
We lived near the Preston dealership.
We'd seen a demo model a few weeks earlier at Newark.
It was filthy and bits were missing. They explained that it had just been back from a show.
They asked for £ 2k to make sure that we'd turn up to view it

It was the same model that we'd seen in Newark, even scruffier with a battered shower tray
The manager said the money was a deposit, as we'd agreed to buy it..
We walked out and went straight to Trading Standards
2 days later, the money was back in our account.
Cheeky B@st@rds.

'You want £2k to view a M/home, to make sure I turn up? I don't trust you either - I'll visit a professional Dealer. Bye.'

I don't understand the problem with leaving a deposit.

You have agreed a deal that you bot accept.
They are showing good faith by reserving the vehicle for you / doing the PDI / registration / tax / fitting extras / etc.

I'm getting a new roof on the house. The roofer made his terms very clear. Nothing to pay until they start work; 50% the day the materials arrive on site; the remainder when I'm happy with the work. The scaffolding is only taken down when the final payment is made.

We paid a deposit on a display model ordered a few extras from Brownhills that needed fitting and pick up in a couple of weeks, The motorhome was then repossessed from Brownhills by finance company. NEVER trust brownhills if you look up history on company’s house website see how many times they have gone bust.

35 years in business never once have I took a deposit or upfront payment and we do some big jobs. Trust is the foundation of a successful business especially in the roofing business. I’ve actually been told my quotation was a fair bit higher than the next guys but because I didn’t ask for money up front and had fair terms I got the contract. Trust

I dont take any monies from folk for jobs pending, but i have a sign up stating if no payment in full one mth after job sorted and told by ph i will sell goods to reclaim my outlay, got aproched 2 weeks back by a chap who left his engine in almost 4 years back, sorry mate was sold to cover storage & repair costs.

When I had the north and east panels of my roof done, and once I knew matl quantities required, I purchased the slate/felt/sarking etc, I got a great discount as a college employee. Payment terms including VAT, I said to the boss man, "have you heard of Batman" yes says the bossman. Me "I am No Vatman, cash on completion of panels". Agreed says bossman. And job done. I forgot to mention new gully matl installed too.

I had the same company return when north and west panels, same T's & C's applied.

We were lucky to find Spinney dealership, at Holmes Chapel, Knutsford.
They never let us down , in 15 years.
3 brothers, all trained by Dad.
They have other branches, now.
Always worth looking there first.

We had a similar deal to you, problem was, once I'd paid in full, we had a terrible job, to get the scaffolding removed.
You would think that they needed it for other jobs, but, clearly, that wasn't the case.
