Hi all :newhere:
I'm new on here and haven't a clue what I'm doing, though hopefully will soon pick it up! We've just bought our first motorhome after years of saving and are looking forward to getting out and about doing some wild camping, after years of camping under canvas. We have a 9 yr old son who is very excited about going off in Daisy, and a 'small' 9 stone dog who couldn't give a chuff!
I'm hoping for lots of friendly advice as am a bit scared about just setting off!!

Welcome to the wildside. I would suggest going to a site or cl to begin with just to see how things work and what you need. With a 9 year old things are a little different as you will have less choices of where to park and may have to provide a little more in the way of onboard entertainment which in turn means managing your power consumption. Solar and plenty of batteries will take care of that but do watch your payload.

Hi and welcome to the forum, have fun

Ask any questions, however stupid you may think they are, because we have all asked them before you.

:welcome:Hi from ulster ,getting out and about is a 100 times better for you young one rather than watching tv or being stuck in a house, let em see the real world, have fun and be nice & the world will be your reward.:camper::wave:

Thank you all.

We went away last weekend, 'wild' camped near Keswick, 'wild' camped near Whinlatter forest and then thought we'd better 'proper' camp on a small site outside Pooley Bridge. After the wild camping we were very disappointed with ourselves for giving in and have decided to only 'proper' camp when the loo needs emptying!!
Bear Grylls is the bees knees in our sons eyes, so he busied himself with tree climbing, whittling with his multi tool and axe, and games when he finally came in.

Thanks again for your kind advice, I think we're gonna love the wild camping community! :fun:
