Nearly 9000 members!!

You got my thanks coolasluck. I was one of the first to welcome you if I remember correctly, and good to have you around.
I am one of the PC brigade, just love being on the PC:D when at home.
Go get your stickers from zeezee, mine look brill, front and back of the MH and rear of the car.
Reminds me must ask from some commission from pete.:D

In addition, we cancel memberships if the member is inactive for a period of 6 months, without good reason (we contact the member first).

I'm not really in favour of the type of sites that vet membership and cancel it after 6 months if you don't post. It's all very well in theory, but what if a member has a long term illness and cant get onto the net for a year. Upon recovering and getting their life back together they go to their fave forum and find they have been deleted. What a kick in the teeth.

It's fine to have a membership of 9000 as long as you realise that your active number is more like 1000. Continually vetting and pruning the membership list does not seem to me to offer any tangible benefit and more than likely it may put some people off joining or returning if they were deleted. Plus it's all extra admin time.
 
And what does it really matter, 90, 900 or 9000, as long as the active members are happy and enjoying the site.

9000 and growing

It is only since a few years I became a member. But I stil remember not that long ago the cape of the 3000; and now heading towards 9000 ! (we will have 10,000 by April I guess- bet for it ?);)

I also visit Belgian, Dutch, French MH-sites but never found the same kindness, cordiality and helping hand I found on this site. Sometimes, overhere (the other side of the Channel) nearly bloody ‘fights’ are fought out in words. And when the opposants should meet it could be swords !
From day 1 I cherised the atmosphere of this site: never hard feelings, no moderators , no censors, ‘where seldom is heard a discouraging word’, the helping mind, the friendship, the soul-mates…..;)
I’ve made more than a dozen soulmates and –sisters on this site; and I’m honoured they did chooce me as a friend :eek:
OK; not all 9000 members will have the same input. Some are readers, others skimmers, a few posters…. But who cares ? I remember this one member who did scarcely post and almost hit the jackpot with the one add he did. He should be blessed. :)

Agree. Why does it matter. There are people who dont post very much but when they do it is quality information.
