For those who have it, do you get much use out of your membership? Was thinking about signing up, but wondering how useful it would be. We usually do a month around Scotland in midwinter, so are many places, carparks etc actually open then?

We may do odd weekends around uk in rest of year, but most of the year we are in Europe...but come the worst ****** scenarios maybe that may have to change.

We’re off to NZ for a couple months next year so I imagine it could come in handy with the reciprocal arrangements...assuming there are plenty of places of interest to see.

I believe membership includes use of NT England car parks...does that apply to NZ, Italy and other such places?

What are folks experiences/successes in staying overnight at NTS and NT carparks?

We asked our daughter in NZ to do the membership for the NT on our behalf, it cost about £30 each, the plus point is, it entitles you to all English Heritage sites over here too!

I visited the dunes and woods at Formby merseyside, and from memory for what I paid , if Id paid half again for a membership all future visits would have been free parking at all sites UK

These NZ, Barbados, Zimbabwe etc memberships don't have all the benefits. What they lack, which is what most of us would want is free parking. I'm not sure if the Scottish one is also excluded.

thing we found is the car park ticket scanners don't recognise Scottish cards , so we carry a note to put in the window in case of jobsworths. not been a problem. in Tyntesfield , the guy at the entrance scanned a barcode on a bit of paper he had ,and ignored our cards.if there was a problem i'd do my Weegie accent and have a right old barney !

It is a discussion we have had on here before, I was put in my place by one member for not contributing to the NT of the UK.
At our age you have to be a bit frugal with your money,( is that not what we do on here), so I said so, and was still criticized, then asked them to pay my full membership...……………………..Silence.

Its a no brainer , do it

Troublemaker..

We have NTS membership and never had a problem in rest of U.K

What a cheek of the NT bloke to criticise someone for having NTS membership.
When the NT start doing concessions then I will consider joining them. If the NTS has a social consience then maybe they should have one too!
Typical of their attitude though.

With our need to visit Scotland to visit family we’re more likely to spend time there than in England.

Can you have more than one parking sticker. ie. One for van and one for car, or are they low-tack and transferable?

Up until this current year they only sent one sticker, which I moved from car to van, but this year they sent two.

Yes it’s a good deal, about £5 a month for a joint senior membership.

Two stickers in the handbook this year. I have an email from NT saying the parking arrangements are precisely the same for NTS members even at coastal and rural car parks not attached to a stately house for instance.

It’s well worth it and encourages you to visit some wonderful places just because your a member.

Nuts

And, there's the added bonus of doing a bit of foraging.
